Yr7: Formal elements and drawing.
Yr8 Oni mask drawing. / Skills and Learning across Curriculum
Brief: - Brief: - Students will produce a 3d sculpture based on research of architecture and the artist Hundertwasser. The finished outcomes show characteristics of Hundertwasser's designs. They should also show they have effectively used materials to produce a 3D tile and or recycled construction.
Homework HT2: Draw a famous building in a realistic way. 1) In Line. 2) Add tone and texture. 3) Add facts and information about architect and architecture.
Homework HT3: Redraw a famous building in an elaborate way. 1) Draw shape, line & pattern. 2) Add colour. 3) Finish carefully. / Resources

Acquiring and developing skills
Skills should be developed in observational drawing and design. Leading into clay and ceramic slab making techniques. / Selecting and applying skills
Research should be based around architectural shapes to produce realistic and idealistic designs for a ceramic tile. Pupils will be given the opportunity to use clay when constructing the final outcome.
Knowledge and Understanding
Pupils should gain knowledge of Architecture and its different forms in society. The properties and processes of ceramics including basic health and safety. / Evaluating and Improving/ Assessment for Learning
Pupils are to discuss architecture and the way it affects us with it merits and flaws.
Assessment should be based on an understanding with key words as well as the final designs and making the ceramic outcome.

Literacy Elements
· Developing and presenting information
Aspects focus in SOW :
· Speaking, Listening, Collaboration and Discussion
Learners will be given opportunity to be able to:
• present topics and ideas coherently, using techniques effectively, e.g. a clear structure, anecdote to illustrate, plausible conclusions
• respond to others’ views positively and appropriately when challenged
• defend a point of view with information and reasons, e.g. in role or debate
• respond positively and thoughtfully to new ideas and alternative points of view
• listen to information and ideas (on-screen or live) and identify how evidence is used, e.g. to defend a point of view, or misused, e.g. to mislead by exaggeration
• take a range of roles, e.g. organising, initiating actions, in more formal group contexts,
• discuss opposing viewpoints and negotiate ways forward.

Assessment
12 / Architecture.
Record and research local and global architecture.
Recognise key elements of Hundertwasser’s art and architecture.
Show an understanding of architecture and art.
Debate a point of view on architecture. / Homework HT2: Draw a famous building in a realistic way. 1) In Line. 2) Add tone and texture. 3) Add facts and information about architect and architecture.
INVESTIGATION
Look at examples of Hundertwasser’s architecture and discuss key characteristics:
What is architecture?
Shape, texture, materials, colour, types?
Use power point presentation to note key words/ materials.
Create x2 Venn Diagram
1: Look closely at these pictures (PP).
Can you find things in common between Hundertwasser's paintings and his artwork on the buildings?
2: Can you find things in common and differences between Hundertwasser's architecture and the other building?
TIMM ASSESSMENT
Architecture debating
Divide into teams. Pupils will be given a picture of a building. Using a team Venn diagram list the positive features and negative features of the building you have been given. Neutral comments go in the middle.
As a group pupils present their argument to the class trying to convince the rest of the class that their building is the best. Use all of your positive comments to put your argument together and use persuasive language when presenting your argument. / PP/ Video

6 / Artist visual research colour and pattern
Taking account of purpose and audience, students will make a design for the decoration of their tile in view of the above stated brief.
Apply and extend experience of materials and processes to make a ceramic Tile. / Homework HT2: Draw a famous building in a realistic way. 2) Add tone and texture.
DEVELOPMENT
Copy sections of Hundertwassers work: focus on shape colour and pattern.
Homework HT2: Draw a famous building in a realistic way. 3) Add facts and information about architect and architecture.
1. Students will try out different designs in their book for designs to be used to create clay tile in pencil line only. (Scale A5)
2 Students will create a template of chosen design ready for construction relating to shape.
MAKING (before Half term if possible) x2 lessons.
Students work in specialist ceramics room. Teacher to demonstrate simple clay construction techniques – rolling slabs, addition of details using score and slip, shaping with tools etc.
Health and safety covered, visit to kiln.
Students then realise their work using clay. Tiles are carefully wrapped at the end of each lesson to avoid drying out.

12 / Adding colour to designs in the style of Artist.
Pupils discuss main skills learnt.
In groups give demonstration to group of skills. / Homework HT3: Redraw a famous building in an elaborate way. 1) Draw shape, line & pattern. 2) Add colour. 3) Finish carefully.
Pupils revisit pencil designs in books and add colour to decide on a final colour scheme. Use Hundertwasser inspiration.
TIMM Assessment of final design.
Pupils should self -assess and peer assess final designs. Teacher then collects and assess. Time given for final improvements,
