Turf Wars / Gangsters’ Paradise
Times were hard in the mean trees of Wilmington, Delaware and the more humans that moved to town, the less space there was for the animals that lived where the homes were being built. Even the good old neighborhoods that had been safe for the animals before were becoming more and more dangerous with each new invention of pesticides and those crazy animal control people. One neighborhood in particular, Alapacas, and School Rd. were under heavy development, and so the animal crime rate was on the rise. / / The Roots and Monsters of Folk “Dear God 2.0”
For every new house that was built, a tree was torn down, and so went the homes of the animals that called them home. Two families in particular were most affected by this constant influx of people, the pigeons and the squirrels. /
What the humans didn't realize was that there was already a long standing turf war between the pigeons and the squirrels. The two biggest families were the Pigeones and the Nutensteins, and they put family above all else. Now, with less trees to call home, the pigeons and squirrels were becoming more and more ruthless when it came to protecting their homes and families. Sometimes, this turned DEADLY! / / INI and Deda/Pete Rock “No More Words”
The biggest rivals on School St. were Don Pigeone and Nutty the Bone collector. They had been sabotaging and stealing from each other for over a year now and tensions were high. Then one day, Nutty crossed the line when he gave rice to one of the Pigeone children who became very ill once the rice expanded. This went to far in the Pigeone’s minds and they wanted revenge! So, as a family they pecked away at the branches of Nutty's home. The next time Nutty went to sit on his stoop, the branch fell with a thud to the ground and poor Nutty was trapped underneath. This meant war for the two families, and this meant that 133 School Rd., the scene of the crime was the turf to be fought over. So threats were made, and the war began. /

What the pigeons didn't realize is that the squirrels were good friends with famous musician Tom Lehrer. Before his death, Nutty "strongly" convinced Lehrer to write a battle cry that would rally the neighborhood squirrels to fight the evil Pigeone family!! / / Poisoning Pigeons in the park
