Course duration and session breakdowns

The length of time devoted to delivery of the qualification will depend on:

Please keep in mind that you are undertaking a flexible training program, so the session details may change according to the requirements and interests of the group or individual. Explanation of the “Summary Evidence Guide”

After receiving all the required material for assessment your assessor will then mark each item and if further action is required for competency your assessor will then contact you to arrange an interview with you to go through your material and identify any gaps in evidence and will work out a plan with you on what steps need to be taken to fill those gaps.

You can at any time either before submitting your evidence items or after seek clarification on any issue found in the exercises or activities with your assessor.

Many of the exercises and activities will require you to complete work away from the face to face training and considerable time should be allowed by you for this purpose, as some of the activities are involved and require an amount of research on your part. If you require any assistance, need clarification or have difficulty with any activity you are encouraged to discuss this with your trainer.

As well as that some of the course will be on a one-on-one basis with your trainer/assessor and other parts, mainly the theory sections, might be done with a group of people enrolled in the same qualification. You are encouraged to work with other people and discuss any of the questions to help you come to a conclusion.

If you wish to apply for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) for any unit within the competency standard then you will need a separate form (RPL GUIDE/ ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENT) which can be supplied upon request and must be returned at least two (2) weeks prior to the commencement of the course, to allow for checking of your material against the competency requirements.

The trainer is then to fill in the appropriate form (complaint Form F005-1) to record the complaint, as well details of the result and any decisions made, and file this with the student records, another copy is to be given to a director of Ægis Training Services Pty Ltd and a third for the Assessors records.

The student/client must then be notified of the result of the review and a full explanation of the reasons for the decision. A copy of the results and any correspondence to the student/client is to be made and filed in the students file, with copies retained by the assessor. The assessor/director must include in the correspondence to the student/client information that if they are not satisfied with the result of the review a further request for review can be made to the director of Ægis Training Services Pty Ltd who will then forward the details of the complaint to an independent person (someone not involved in the process to this stage) who will check the validity of the reasons for the decision and reply within 14 days.

If the complaint is of a nature to preclude the assessor from making an objective decision eg: Conduct of the Assessor/staff, then the complaint is to be immediately directed to a director of Ægis Training Services Pty Ltd for action.

In the event that a Complaint or Grievance cannot be resolved internally, advice on who the student/client should contact to seek further assistance is to be given.

If possible the appeal is to be resolved at this stage, giving full details of the reasons for the decision, without compromise to the integrity of the competency standard or Ægis Training Services Pty Ltd. Any assessor involved in the original assessment cannot be involved in this panel except to answer any queries the panel might have in regards to the original decision. This must be done as soon as possible but must be completed within 14 days of receipt of the complaint/appeal. The student/client must then be notified of the result of the appeal and a full explanation of the reasons for the decision is to be made. A copy of the results and any correspondence to the student/client is to be made and filed in the students file, with copies retained by the assessor.
