Honors Beyond George Street (BGS)Peer Facilitator Job Description

The Honors College is seeking Honors students to serve as Peer Facilitatorsfor the Honors BGScourse to be taught in Fall 2018. Students will be selected based on review of the application, statement of interest, and interview.

Selected students will be required to complete the PF training courses through the Center for Excellence in Peer Education during Spring 2018. The course will be offered in Express I and Express II.

Express IMW3:00pm – 4:40pm

Express IITR3:05pm – 4:45pm

Students will receive 2 credit hours for the course and may choose from either of the times above.

Peer Facilitatorswill commit to at least 7 hours per week in Fall2018, including class meeting time and one supervision meeting per week. Students will be paid $10/hour. A total of 6 sections will be offered in Fall 2018with approximately 33 students per section and 3 peer facilitators per section. Classes will be scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday, with eachpeer facilitatorassigned to one section of the course.

The Peer Facilitator Application Deadline is Tuesday, November 14that Noon. Applications can be downloaded directly from the HUB.

Peer FacilitatorRequirements:

  • Member of the Honors College in good standing
  • Either currently enrolled or completed Honors First Year Experience (BGS)
  • Availability to take spring Expresstraining course at one of the times listed above
  • Attend Spring 2018retreat (to be held on one of the first three Saturdays in April)
  • Attend Fall 2018 retreat which will be held the Thursday before the 1st day of class
  • Willingness to plan Fall schedule to accommodate Honors BGS (this includes keeping the period before and after the class meeting time open)
  • No more than 15 hours of course load in Fall 2018 (negotiable in some cases)
  • No more than 15 hours of outside activities - including other jobs/clubs/sports

Preference will be given to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Those with a GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • Those who plan to take no more than 15 hours in Fall 2018
  • Those who have reasonable time commitments in Fall 2018 that do not detract from BGSPF responsibilities
