Special Awards / Criteria: 4-H Record Books

These awards must be indicated before you will be considered! You may only win each special award one time. The following Special Awards require a completed record book and an Individual Highlights Page . First year member is defined as a member entering 4th grade or 9 years of age at the beginning of the project year.

The following Special Awards require: A completed record book, any special forms or books, and follow any specific criteria outlined.

§  Beef Selecting, Preparing, & Serving: Special Form

§  Farmers Union Citizenship: Specific criteria outlined under the Farmers Union Citizenship Award Guidelines.

For the following awards you must hold an equivalent office in your local, county or project club.

§  Reporter, Junior: Montage of submitted newspaper articles and/or actual news articles arranged in a journal.

§  Reporter, Senior: Montage of submitted newspaper articles and/or actual news articles arranged in a journal.

§  Secretary, Junior: Secretary’s notebook

§  Secretary, Senior: Secretary’s notebook

All Special Awards may require an interview. Reporter and Secretary’s Awards do not require an interview.

There will be a Special Award for Record Book Composition. This award is not judged on project work. Criteria instead include neatness, grammar, time in presentation, photos, creativity, etc.

Awards will be given if qualified applicants meet all requirements. Record book materials are available at the County Extension Office.

Special Awards will be awarded by judges based on merit of project.

Highlights Page:

·  Summary of awards, events and activities completed in the specific, special award category you are applying on.

·  First year and Hall of Fame is a summary of all projects highlighting awards, events and activities.

·  Limited to one page front only except 2 pages for Senior Hall of Fame.

·  Can be outlined, listed or in narrative form.
