We have planned our first field experience for the year. We will be going to the Consolidated Gold Mines in Dahlonega in conjunction with the social studies curriculum. Students will attend the trip on Monday November 13th. We will leave school at 9:30 AM and return to school at approximately 5:00 PM. We are asking that you be present to pick up your child by 5:00 PM. A general itinerary follows, and times are approximate. The cost of the trip, $65.00, will include lunch at the Smith House. You may choose to bring a lunch; however, it does not change the price.
Because of the times of the trip, a county school bus is not an option; therefore, we will be traveling by charter buses provided by Travel Store/Southeastern Stages.

9:30am Depart Lovinggood Middle School.
11:00am 12:45 pm Visit Consolidated Mines for a tour of the mine, gemstone panning and
gold panning.
1:00pm 2:00 pm A “family style” lunch will be served at The Smith House.
2:00pm 2:15 pm Brief walking tour of the campus of North Georgia University.
2:15pm 3:00 pm Time will be available for souvenir shopping on the square.
5:00 pm Return to Lovinggood Middle School.

Cost: $ 65.00 per student. This includes the entrance fee to the mine, panning for gold, gemstone panning, lunch, and transportation by private carrier. Money and signed permission slip must be returned no later than Monday October 2nd.
My child, ______, has permission to travel with his/her 8th grade class to Dahlonega on Monday November 13, 2017.
I understand that he/she will depart Lovinggood Middle School at 9:30 by private carrier, and will be dropped off at the venue. I further understand that I must pick up my child at Lovinggood at 5:00 PM.

______I would like to serve as a chaperone. I understand that, if chosen, I will pay $65.00 for myself and that I will be responsible for a group of students at all venues while in Dahlonega. You will be notified by by one of the Georgia Studies teachers by October 6, 2017.
