JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Outreach

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Downtown Community Improvement District

SUMMARY OF JOB:

Increase brand awareness for The District, utilizing events, external media, social media and email tools. Communicate with the Downtown CID’s constituency to build relationships and increase sales and traffic in Downtown Columbia. Assist in the creation and management of social media initiatives,email strategy and general administrative tasks.

This position could be part time or full time and range in hours from 30 – 45 per week, including flexibility and some nights and weekends. Total compensation package beginning at$30,000 based upon experience and skills.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Communicate and build relationships with Downtown CID constituents.
  • Plan and execute signature marketing events, such as Living Windows, Dog Days, Shop Small and Busker programming
  • Develop partnerships with community groups/ organizations to further promote The District brand and strengthen events
  • Serve as point person and manage media buying agency contract, ensuring that all media deadlines are met and proper creative materials provided
  • Staff liaison and support for the Downtown CID’s Marketing Committee
  • Assist with creation, conception, and presentation of the Downtown CID’s social media strategy and related marketing campaigns
  • Assist with email strategy including content, data and analytics
  • Create and curate content for digital communication channels
  • Utilize social listening and analytical tools to generate insights that lead to accomplishing strategic goals
  • Monitor activities and interactions within social media sites and foster communication from and between members and/or subject matter experts
  • Assist in creating targeted member lists
  • Be an active team member for a small staff, willing to assist with a variety of projects and needs
  • Provide strong customer service to guests and constituents of the Downtown CID
  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Degree in marketing, communications or related field
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills
  • Understand retail and business environment
  • High level of interest and passion for today’s social networking and collaboration technologies
  • Strong writing, communication, and relationship building skills
  • Personable, outgoing, engaging
  • High degree of patience and a great sense of humor
  • Ability to jump from the creative side of communication strategy to the analytical side to event execution
  • High level of initiative and an aptitude for system and business process development
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously with a smile
  • Understanding of popular social networks including their design, functionality and audiences
