EXPECTATIONS

Your success in this class is directly proportional to your attitude and the effort you make in class each day. The ultimate responsibility for your success or failure is yours. Being successful takes work, and often, it takes hard work. Good luck!

You are expected: to be in class, to be on time with your book, pencil, paper & HW,

to pay attention, to do your work and turn it in on time,

to follow class and school rules to ask appropriate questions at the appropriate time.

GRADES

Grade Scale: A 90 – 100% B 80 – 89% C 70 – 79% D 60 – 69% F 0 – 59%

There are three (3) components to your grade:

TESTS: Tests are 70% of your grade. There will be approximately 10 tests including quarter Benchmarks

and a semester final. The lowest test score of each quarter will be dropped.

(Benchmark/Finals are nondropable.)

Make-up tests are given before school in 308. Make-up tests must be taken prior to the next test.

ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are given daily. What isn’t finished in class is considered homework.

Credit for assignments is based upon effort made and not the number right or wrong.

Assignments aredue the next school day and are 10% of your grade.

Credit is assigned as follows: 2 pt. – 90% or more of the problems have been completed with work shown.

1 pt. – 75% or more of the work is done with work shown.

0 pt. – Less than 75% of the work completed, or work not shown.

CALCULATORS: Scientific calculators can be used on assignments and tests. NO graphing calculators.

NOTES: Notes include demonstrations and examples done on the board or from the book, definitions and

quizzes. Notes are due the day of the test. Notes are20% ofyour grade.

Extra help: If you need extra help, I am available before school and at lunch in room 308.

Please let meknow ahead of time that you plan to stop by.

You can also get help from other teachers, other students, friends, tutors, etc. Again, it is YOUR

responsibility to learn the material. You are the only one who knows if you understand.

Keep politely asking until you do.

WORK HABITS: Your work habits grade is based upon your “Assignments” score.

Outstanding: 90–100% Satisfactory: 70–89% Needs Improvement: 50–69% Unsatisfactory: 0–59%

CITIZENSHIP: Your citizenship grade is based upon your classroom behavior. Talking, tardies,

truancies, lack of materials, etc. will cause your citizenship grade to go down.

CLASS RULES: All rules as stated in the Student Handbook will be followed. My policy on hats is that they come off when you enter the room. This includes both men and women. All electronic devices are to be turned off and put away.

**If you have any questions or comments regarding anything that goes on in class, please let me know.

I will always listen and try to help if you are polite and respectful.

Sign and return indicating that you have received a copy of the course syllabus. Thank you.
