RACE 1 – MICKS FRUIT AND VEGIE SHED STAKES – 2200 METRES
On the first turn TIZ A SHAKER(K Rattray) which was leading shifted out. That filly then tired from the 400 metres.As a result of TIZ A SHAKER tiring MISS SHARAPOVA (Brett Bailey) was held up between the 400 and 300 metres
RACE 2 – JUBILEE BAKERY PACE – 2200 METRES
UDONTGETME which was out of position at the start will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.
Driver Wade Rattray (AUGURAL) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 162(1)(e) in that he scored up from the wrong barrier position until just before the start was effected. Mr Rattray was fined the sum of $100.
AUGURAL broke free of interference passing the 500 metres and has been stood down from racing for 10 days and until the completion of a trial.
Approaching the 1100 meter mark CARDINAL FINN suffered a broken spreader and then galloped checking COURAGEOUS JAMANE which raced rough, KARALTA DELUX, PARWILL and JIMMY DE PANDA were also inconvenienced and had to race wide. CARDINAL FINN was then retired from the event by driver Rohan Hadley. The gear of CARDINAL FINN was inspected and found to be of good quality.
Driver Peter Dornauf was reprimanded under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action which was more than a wrist and elbow flicking motion.
Driver Kate MacLeod (BUSTED) was reprimanded under AR 156(3)(c) for her whip use which was outside the confines of the sulky over the concluding stages.
RACE 3 – DAKIN REFRIGERATION STAKES DIVISION ONE – 2200 METRES
Connections of ZUMBA BROMAC indicated that the mare would look to be driven further back tonight from its wide draw. Stewards approved the change of tactics and the mare was driven accordingly
In the score up on the first occasion STINGOFASCORPION hung in slightly onto WILLIAMLEE as a result WILLIAMLEE and STINGOFASCORPION locked wheels, the starter then called a false start.
In the latter part of the score up SULTAN FELLA (Paul Ashwood) contacted the mobile barrier arm and raced rough momentarily. CEMENTO RAPIDO which was trailing also then raced rough for a stride.
Prior to the all-clear being given driver Duncan Dornauf asked to view the official race filmsof the home straight and after doing so then lodged a protest against MASTER PAIGE(N Brockman) being declared third placegetter on the grounds of interference in the home straight. Mr Dornauf also lodged a protest against BONES JONES (Troy Hillier) being declared the winner of the event on the grounds of interference on the first turn . After taking evidence from drivers Troy Hillier (BONES JONES) and Duncan Dornauf (CEMENTO RAPIDO) and viewing all of the available angles stewards could not be satisfied that the extent of the interference at that stage of the race exceeded the margin at the finish and dismissed the protest. Mr Dornauf after giving consideration to his second protest then withdrew his protest against the third place getter. Stewards then inquired into the reasons for CEMENTO RAPIDO being checked and broke on the first turn. After taking evidence from drivers Christian Salter(CAMPAIGN DRIVE), Todd Rattray(FREYDE), Troy Hillier and Duncan Dornauf. Mr Hillier pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a) for causing or contributing to interference the particulars being that he shifted to the peg line when not fully clear to do so resulting in contact to CEMENTO RAPIDO which was then checked and broke. In determining penalty the stewards considered Mr Hillier’s guilty plea and good record, however that it was also a first turn incident and Mr Hillier was suspended for three race dates commencing at midnight 7 February 2016 and expiring at midnight on the 19 February 2016.
Driver Natalie Emery (JETCRAFT NZ) reported that when she pulled the removable earplugs only one earplug released and the gelding then shifted up the track markedly towards the finish line.

RACE 4 – MCKILLOPS INSURANCE BROKERS PACE – 2200 METRES
Driver Rohan Hadley (DEVIL OF TYNE) was reprimanded under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action which was more than a wrist and elbow flicking motion.
WESTERN DESTROYER broke on the first turn. After taking evidence from driver Samantha Gangell as to the reasons for the gelding breaking no action was taken.
INGLIS which was out of position at the start will continue to be placed right out of the draw for future mobile start events.
RACE 5 – UBET PACING CENTRE PACE – 1680 METRES
JOHNNYART was fractious in the score up.
Driver Adrian Collins (JOHN BAPTISTE) was reminded of his obligations when crossing.
A post-race swab sample was taken from ANGEL OR DEMON, winner of the event.
NOTIMETOTHINK and IN HOUSE have both been placed back in the mobile draw.
RACE 6 – LAUNCESTON DISCRETIONARY – 2200 METRES
TRULY BLISSFULL was fractious before the start, contacting the front barrier strand which then broke and had to be replaced causing a delay. The gelding which then galloped out has now been placed out of the draw.
ANINCHOFHISLIFE which galloped out has been placed on its last chance in the draw.
OUTBACK MACH raced rough after the start.
THE MAJORITY has now been placed back in the standing start draw.
RACE 7 – MAXFIELD DRILLING PTY LTD STAKES DIVISION TWO – 2200 METRES
No action was taken against driver John Walters for sectional times due to the Restricted penalty status of the race.
MACFIRE which hung in throughout and most noticeably whilst rounding the home turn, losing ground as a consequence, underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 8 – EXAMINER CLAIMER – 2200 METRES
WESTERN KARAMEA underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race.
RAJAH WEALTH raced three wide early and when unable to get to a position outside the leader was then restrained to the rear of the field.
Stewards queried drivers Tim Yole (MY GREEK MATE) and Troy Hillier (RAJAH WEALTH) as to their drives and noted their explanations.
RACE 9 – TASMANIAN HORSE TRANSPORT STAKES – 2200 METRES
CISKEI has been placed back in the mobile draw. The gelding also lost a shoe during the preliminary.
Stewards inquired into the reasons for ORIGINAL ART and CISKEI both being inconvenienced and racing wider nearing the 800 metres for a short distance. After taking evidence from drivers concerned Mr Hillier was given the benefit of the doubt and not charged for causing other runners to race wide due to his horses demonstrated racing manners in that it hung out throughout the race, most noticeably at that point. The gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly for hanging. Mr Hillier was reprimanded for allowing his drive REAL RIVER to half cart in the back straight on the final occasion.
