A bright new future for economic development efforts in Alice!

AJWC – EDC HAS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

On September 2nd, the Alice-Jim Wells County Economic Development Corporation selected Dean Kruckenberg as executive director. Dean and his partner, Marsha, have lived in Alice for 30 years having participated in a wide range of community activities including public education, retail, and the Presbyterian Church - as well as volunteer efforts such as Boy Scouts of America and the Rotary Club of Alice. “I’m excited with the prospect of Alice’s role in this currently improving economy” reported Dean. “The EDC is moving ahead in several areas currently, including attracting new businesses, assisting them in establishing in our area and getting involved in the “loop” with the Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development, Workforce, and Industrial Foundation – just to mention a few.”

TEAMWORK VITAL TO SUCCESS

“Coming together is a beginning, Staying together is progress, Working together is success!” Henry Ford

Teamwork can impact the efforts of our entire community. No longer are the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Corporation, and the Alice Industrial Foundation working alone to better our community…we are united! We are all working together to benefit our county. Our unified efforts and communication will increase the overall effectiveness of our work to the good of all.

Teamwork implies all residents being involved, having a voice in our planning and in giving positive efforts to improve our economic climate. This unification is extremely important to a business looking to move or expand into our area. We must demonstrate a “business friendly” atmosphere…from the EDC office and Chamber of Commerce office to City Hall to the start-up of utilities and basic services. Out with the old “I ‘m only interested or involved if I will get all of the benefit”; and in with the new “it’s a win/win situation when our community comes together to attract new businesses and improve our local economy”. Here’s to our prosperity and future together!
