About this Position:

This position is an essential member of a small cross-disciplinary engineering team responsible for new product development (80%) and sustaining engineering (20%). The electronic product line is comprised of handheld measurement, calibration and communication equipment. Additionally, the engineering team interfaces with production during and after project release to maximize efficiency and reduce cost.

This position requires a high degree of creativity and relevant experience in at least one of the following three areas:

·  Intrinsic safety design,

·  Low signal-level analog design,

·  HART® and/or Foundation Fieldbus.

JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Senior Electrical Engineer/Electrical Engineer III

Department: Engineering

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Design, create, and validate analog and digital circuits for low power applications in handheld, battery powered equipment
  2. Layout of printed circuit boards
  3. Develop production documentation
  4. Work cooperatively with all other departments
  5. Organize, plan, and prioritize concurrent projects

Other Duties

  1. Select and requisition components and materials for R&D, prototyping, and/or pilot runs
  2. Function as a liaison between Meriam and external organizations such as regulatory agencies and contract manufacturers
  3. Prepare and submit documentation for agency approval
  4. Attend and contribute in meetings and design reviews
  5. Stay current with emerging technologies and apply new knowledge to position

Essential Skills

  1. Experience in schematic capture & printed circuit board layout
  2. Experience with ECAD tools
  3. Teamwork and cooperation
  4. Enthusiasm, drive and technical competence
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication

Non-Essential Skills

  1. Exposure to: C, C++, C#, VB, LabVIEW, ASM
  2. Intrinsic Safety Design: UL/EN/IEC60079-11
  3. Regulatory Compliance: UL, CSA, IEC, CE, RoHS, WEEE, REACH

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field. Must have at least 5+ years of progressive experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Computer skills with Windows, Microsoft Office, OrCAD, AutoCAD, Soldering Station, Oscilloscopes, DMMs, various hand tools
