We welcome all applicants that are ready to take pride in this cultural spectacle bringing the spirit of carnival to the streets of Pacific Beach! Whether you have talents to showcase, or want to promote your group or business, we thank you in advance for taking interest in participating.

All efforts will be made to accommodate applicants. Brazilian Day reserves the right to deny any application due to space, application deadlines, and/or relevance to the arts, culture, theme, and entertainment objectives of the event.

THE PARADE

The Brazilian Day San Diego parade is inspired by the quintessential carnival parades that take place each year throughout the diverse regions of Brazil. The purposeof the parade is to celebrate the arts and culture of Brazil, to spread social awareness on parade themes, and of course to create a fantastic party for everyone to enjoy.

The theme for the 2015 parade is: The Olympic Spirit, and Rio de Janeiro, as the proud host of the 2016 Summer Games. We invite you to explore this theme for your parade participation. The importance of the theme comes from the traditional Carnival parades in Brazil, where each bloco de Carnaval, orparading group, carries a theme. Through costumes, floats, music and dance, they tell a story that is not only extravagantly entertaining, but that educates the public on the topic. We invite you to help us tell the story of the Olympic Spirit and the best of Rio de Janeiro with a Brazilian carnival vibe.
