CAA NOTAM PROCEDURES - SUBMITTING A NOTAM

It is a CAA requirement that all air users should be advised of unusual air activities that might be hazardous. Events such as an LAA ET NavComp may include a large number of aircraft operating in a closed area which is worth publicising in the form of a Nav Warning. That does not deny the airspace to other users but just tells them something is going on. If the airfield operator wants to require PPR for the period of the event a second submission entitled Requirement for PPR for XXXXX (airfield) is the easiest way

The event director should notify the CAA using the format below at least 28 days before the event by sending an email to . The email follows a specific format which is summarized below:

A: LAA Education Trust XXX (number issued by LAA ET)

B: XXXXN XXXXXE/W (Location of airfield in text as lat and long)

C: YY MM DD HH:MM (date/time for start in UTC not BST)

D: YY MM DD HH:MM (date/time for finish in UTC not BST)

E: Navigation Training Exercise. Up to XXX light aircraft based at XXXXXX (airfield name) XXXX (airfield ICAO code) will participate in a navigation training exercise WI XX nm of XXXXN XXXXXE/W (generic name of area if there is one) 3000ft AGL and below in VMC. Information available from XXXX (name of airfield) on XXX.XX (frequency) or XXXXX XXXX (telephone number). In the event of poor weather the exercise will be delayed by one day (if applicable)
