THURSDAY, MAY 28

Depart Elma this morning for Gettysburg, PA. En route to Gettysburg, you’ll have a lunch stop (individual’s expense). Following lunch, continue on to Gettysburg. Upon arrival, your first stop will be at the Museum and Visitors Center where you’ll have time to explore the museum and also view the film, “A New Birth of Freedom.” You’ll then tour the Gettysburg Battlefield, led by a National Parks Service guide. Here you’ll learn about the events that took place during the battle as well as see the town itself, where major parts of the battle were fought. You’ll have DINNER in Gettysburg before departing for your hotel in suburban Washington D.C. Check in and remain for the evening.

FRIDAY, MAY 29

BREAKFAST at the hotel. This morning your group will travel to Arlington National Cemetery, where you will meet your guide, and view the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You will also see the Kennedy gravesites and also the Challenger memorial. Depart Arlington for Mt. Vernon, the former home of George Washington. The Ford Orientation Center and Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center at Mt. Vernon will illuminate fascinating chapters of Washington's life in two state-of-the-art facilities. You’ll also have the opportunity to tour the mansion itself. Depart Mt. Vernon for Washington D.C. where you’ll have DINNER before an illumination tour of the Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, and World War II Memorials. Return to your hotel following the tour and remain for the evening.

SATURDAY, MAY 30

BREAKFAST at the hotel. Depart your hotel this morning for Washington D.C. Meet your guide and begin the day sightseeing including an interior tour of the Capitol Building (pending confirmation) and the exterior of the White House. You’ll have lunch (individual’s expense) at midday as coordinated between the chaperones and the guides. Continue sightseeing this afternoon as with stops at the National Archives and Ford’s Theatre. DINNER this evening followed by an illumination tour of the Jefferson, FDR, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorials. Return to your hotel following the tour and remain for the evening.

SUNDAY, MAY 31

BREAKFAST at the hotel. Check out and depart the hotel for the Smithsonian Museum complex. The Smithsonian buildings line the Washington Mall area, and you may visit the Natural History Museum, the Air & Space Museum, the American History Museum, or any one of the other museum buildings, including the National Holocaust Memorial Museum, all within walking distance of one another. Lunch (individual’s expense) at one of the cafeteria’s at the museums. Early this afternoon, depart for Elma. Meal/rest stops will be coordinated between the chaperones and the bus driver. Evening arrival at the school.

PROGRAM FEE: $ 525/person based on 40-50 students and four chaperones per bus

$ 565/person based on 35-39 students and four chaperones per bus

$ 605/person based on 30-34 students and four chaperones per bus

FEE INCLUDES: Round trip motorcoach transportation between Elma and Gettysburg/Washington D.C.; accommodations for three nights in a suburban Washington D.C. hotel, with students four to a room and the chaperones two to a room; three breakfasts; three dinners; one Gettysburg guide per bus; one local D.C. guide per bus; security guard service at the hotel each night; gratuities to the guides and the bus drivers; all restaurant taxes and gratuities.

NOT INCLUDED: Meals other than those listed; items of a personal nature.

From that list, you may choose the policy that best fits your needs. PLEASE NOTE THAT MANY TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICIES MUST BE PURCHASED WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE INITIAL TRIP DEPOSIT.

REGISTRATION: To register for this program, please complete a Travelogs International registration form and return the white copy, along with a deposit of $100, to your teacher-chaperone no later than October 31. A second deposit of $100 will be due February 6. The balance of the program fee will be due March 19.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SCHOOL GROUPS BILLED AS ONE UNIT:

Between October 21 and February 5: Penalty $25

Between February 6 and March 18: Penalty $200

Between March 19 and May 5: Penalty 50% of program fee (or entire deposit, whichever is greater)

Within 22 days of departure: NO REFUND

Any cancellations resulting in refunds must be made in writing to Travelogs International, 950-A Union Road, #22, West Seneca, NY 14224. The amount of your refund will be determined by the postmark date of your cancellation notice. Refund checks will be issued within four weeks of written notification. Your teacher-chaperone must also be notified of your cancellation. The cancellation penalties are in effect regardless of the reason for cancellation, including unforeseen illness, disciplinary action taken by the school/organization, or cancellation of the entire group by the school/organization for any reason. Please contact Travelogs directly for replacement policy. There are absolutely no replacements within 72 hours of departure. For cancellation of an entire group at that group’s own request, any nonrefundable payments or contractual commitments made by Travelogs on behalf of the group are nonrefundable to program participants. In addition, Travelogs reserves the right to include an administrative fee in any cancellation charges to program participants. Neither Travelogs nor the school/organization is financially responsible for any charges to program participants for cancelled trips due to (but not limited to) illness, weather related events, civil strife, or national/international events.
