The Lee Conlee House is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, compassionate individual to provide services to survivors of domestic violence who are in need of substance abuse services in Putnam County Florida. The Advocate will work with survivors in partnership with a substance abuse professional to provide immediate victim safety, crisis counseling, support groups and will work to establish and maintain community partnerships. The advocate will be responsible managing the development of the ‘Hope in Recovery’ Program and will be responsible for completing deliverables associated with project. The Advocate will represent the organization in the community with integrity and professionalism. Candidates will exhibit a positive, non-judgmental approach to victim services, and demonstrate a clear understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and substance misuse and be able to demonstrate ethical communication, boundaries and good judgment. Candidates will be work to increase access to services to traditionally underserved populations in Putnam County. The advocate will also provide hotline, safety planning, advocacy and case management services to survivors in shelter and outreach.

Required Skills Include: professional presentation, excellent verbal communication and writing skills, public speaking skills, ethical communication skills, good judgment, desire to advocate on behalf of victims, ability to perform calmly in crisis situations, and a valid Florida driver’s license, insurance, a safe driving record and reliable transportation. Computer skills including working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Public speaking skills, training facilitation and the ability to develop programs.

Physical requirements: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 20 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.

High school diploma and a minimum of two years’ experience working in the domestic violence and/or substance abuse field with women required, two or four year degree in a social service related field a plus.
