Current Events Project
This project will last from today until the next to last week of the semester______. You will be responsible for one international/American article a week, NOT A NEWS BRIEF or BLOG, but the full article with date. Only articles dealing with social topics will be graded. This means no sports scores, movie reviews or music news. I want an article that shows a social situation or problem. Each summary will be a page in length and will have five words defined from the article that either you did not know or were relevant to the story (words like him or go will not count). You are to give a full-page summary of the article stating facts from the story. Then you will define any five words at the end of the page. Each current event will be worth 20 points for the written summary, 20 for the terms and 20 for the heading, including where the article came from, title of article and author for a total of 60 points per week. Your presentation is due on ______. Any week that is missed for any reason will count as a 0 out of 60 for that week. NO late current events for any reason. The article must be from a real news source.
You are to keep all articles and turn them in every 5 weeks for another grade.
Here are questions that must be in the summary and presentation.
1. Who is in the article?
2. What is the main point of the article (be detailed)?
3. Where in the world does this happen, is that important?
4. How does this event affect the area of the world?
5. Why did you pick this article? (Do not say because you had to. Get a real reason.)
6. What do you think about the article, area, people?
