What does this guide tell me? / Who is the guide aimed at?
The process for obtaining a generic Skype account for use during the 2017 Admissions round. / Any member of collegiate staff who will be conducting a Skype interview for Undergraduate Admissions in 2017, who does not already hold a Skype account.
Why is it necessary to contact the IT Helpdesk to create a new Skype account?
The University are in the process of implementing Nexus365, moving Nexus email and calendaring to the cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 service.Skype for Business will be made available during 2018, but will not be available for the Undergraduate Admissions (UG) interviews in 2017.
Due to licensing changes from Microsoft, Skype is no longer allowed to be set up against an Oxford email account (@xx.ox.ac.uk) although existing Skype accounts will still function.
Therefore as an interim measure for 2017, staff requiring a new Skype account for UG Admissions will be given a generic account by IT Services.
