Purpose of the Role
- To support the successful implementation of the National Bowel Screening Programme in Southern DHB and subsequently the DHB’s in the Southern Region (South Island)
- To support the on-time delivery of the Bowel Screening Programme at each South Island DHB
- To liaise with all South Island DHB’s and the appropriate stakeholders to ensure successful implementation
- To develop strong relationships with all South Island DHB’s and assist them to implement the Quality Standards of the National Bowel Screening Programme.
- Facilitate sharing of learnings and resources with all South Island DHB’s
- Support South Island DHB’s to meet colonoscopy waiting time indicators and assist in production planning for the region for symptomatic patients
- Support the provision of quality across the South Island including models of care, KPI’s, planning and implementation of quality initiatives
- Support primary care across the South Island in relation to the Bowel Screening Programme
- Ensure that the required performance data and quality data is provided to the Ministry of Health as required
- Support all efforts to improve rates of participation with particular emphasis on vulnerable groups
- To be the point of contact and advice for South Island DHB’s
- To liaise and network with the other Project Managers for the Bowel Screening Programme
Directorate Clinician Management Partnership (delete if not required)
- To work collaboratively with the Clinical Leader for the Bowel Screening Regional Centre for the South Island
- To work collaboratively with all clinical staff across the District in Primary and Secondary care as appropriate

Participation Rates /
- Support initiatives to increases participation across the South Island and share what has been learnt in other DHB’s
- Achieve an overall participation rate of 60% or higher

- Support Equity within the Programme within each DHB and across the whole South Island
- Particular emphasis on Maori, Pacific Island and rural communities
- No vulnerable group achieves below the 60% participation rate
Communication Strategy /
- Share what has been learnt in delivering an appropriate communication strategy across the South Island DHB’s
Primary Care Engagement /
- Bowel Screening Programme is delivered in partnership with primary care providers, especially General Practitioners
- Develop relationships and be available to PHO’s and individual practitioners
- All practices are actively engaged prior to commencement
