Handbook

Revised 8/10/15

Dear BHS Student,

Welcome to Bunkie High School. Each of you has a unique opportunity, while enrolled, to achieve many personal goals. You are part of the overall mission of administration, faculty, and staff. Every faculty and staff member actively works to help you attain your goals.

Now is the time to train yourself for the kind of worthwhile citizen you want to become. This means respect for the rights of others and sense of responsibility to your family, your friends, your school, and yourself. Set yourself personal expectations as high as possible and then strive to attain them.

The ultimate purpose of education is to help each student become an effective citizen in our society. These rules and regulations reflect the Avoyelles Parish School Board policy, state law, and our desire for a safe and orderly learning environment for all of our students.

By following these guidelines, you will ensure your future success by preparing yourself for life’s challenges-academically, economically, and socially.

The Administration, Faculty and Staff of BNTHS

Our mission is to provide the best possible education for our students in an environment which is safe and conducive to learning. The following policies and procedures are designed to help achieve that mission. Bunkie students are expected to follow them without exception.

The BHS student handbook is intended to inform students and guardians of certain APSB policies and how they are implemented at BHS. Students and guardians should read the parish handbook for further information regarding these policies.

NOTE: The Bunkie New Tech campus will remain a quiet, orderly campus. While on campus students will conduct themselves as mature students. All areas of the campus, including outdoor areas, will be quiet and orderly. Students who disrupt the environment will face disciplinary actions.

General Rules of Conduct

Just because a rule does not appear in this handbook, do not assume it does not exist. Students should use common sense, courtesy, consideration, and discretion in their actions within the school community. By doing so, he or she will find himself/herself in compliance with the regulations of BHS. Any violations of the district and/or school rules will be handled at the discretion of the principal or designee.
