Dear Parent / Carer

Re: The ‘London Experience’ Science Trip

The science department at Tudor Grange Academy is extremely excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for your child. We are proposing to take 30 Year 7 students to London at 9am on Thursday 4th December for a residential trip over two nights, returning to the Academy at 4pm on Saturday 6th December.

The London Experience Science Trip aims to give our new intake of Year 7 students a taste of science in the real world. They will have the chance to explore key themes of light, energy transfer, forces and motion at London’s prestigious Science Museum, with hands-on exhibits encouraging open-ended exploration and inquiry. They will explore the natural world around us and learn about the evolution of life itself at the National History Museum. A visit to the Royal Observatory will give students an insight into the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian of the World as well as a chance to see the UK’s largest refracting telescope. They will get the chance to observe our capital city from above with a trip on the London Eye and will sample some culture at a West End Show.

The cost of the trip will be £240, this includes all transport costs, accommodation and attraction tickets. We recommend your child brings £50 spending money to cover food and other necessities over the two days. As there are only 30 places available on the trip and the opportunity has been given to all Year 7 students, the places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

If you would like your child to take part in this visit please could you return the reply slip below along with either cash or cheque for a deposit of £50 to the overall cost of the trip made payable to Tudor Grange Academy Worcester by Monday 13th October.

Once we have allocated the places you will receive a letter explaining how you can pay for the trip in instalments over the next months. Should you have questions or concerns about meeting the cost of the trip please contact me at the school.

If you have any further questions or queries regarding the trip please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Miss Sarah Jordan
