2013 Elder Board Nomination Ballot

The office of the elders is one of servanthood and service representing Christ through the action of the Holy Spirit. In the local church elders are chosen members of spiritual discernment, exemplary life, charitable spirit, and wisdom grounded in God’s Word.

The Elder Board has direct responsibility to:
Safeguard the cause of Jesus Christ through the Mission of Westview Church, in a lost and broken world so loved by God.
Write and adjust broad, concise, comprehensive, and up-to-date Guiding Principles designed to ensure that the Mission of Westview Church is carried out within the values given in the Bible. These principles must be written and readily available. These principles:
- Provide for the essential outcomes that the Congregation exists to achieve (Mission Principles).
- Address the boundaries from the Elder Board to the Lead Pastor that prohibit tactics and conditions that
are unacceptable en route to fulfilling the Mission (Boundary Principles).
- Define the process of Governance to keep the Elder Board on track by providing accountability to the congregation in Mission, accountability to the Elder Board itself, and accountability of the pastoral staff to the Elder Board (Governance Principles).
- Provide accountability to the pastoral staff by regularly reviewing metrics set forth in our Accountability Principles.
- Provide full support to the pastoral staff to fulfilling the Mission Principles while respecting the Boundary Principles.
Elder Board members serve 3-year terms. Jodi Rhone and Brent Vander Waal have finished their terms and will be moving off the Elder Board. Current Elder Board memberswith remaining terms areDennis Schmitt, Keith Wilhite, Erika Johnson and Chuck Pletke. The Nominations Team will receive your suggestions and choose at least 4 people to recommend to the Elder Board. The Elder Board will then choose two people and submit them for your approval at our Congregational Meeting, Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Please nominate from this list of eligible partners who are active, out of high school, and living in the area; does not include continuing Elder Board (and their spouses), staff (and their spouses) or those Elder Board Members who are rolling off the board.
