FANDAZZI FIRE CIRCUS BREAKS THE TORCH EATING WORLD RECORD!

SHAKOPEE, Minn., (September 2, 2015) –On Saturday, September 5 at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, Fandazzi Fire Circus performer Bret ‘The Axe’ Pasek earned his second Guinness World Record for torch eating! He earned the new record by extinguishing 51 torches in just 26 seconds! Last year, Bret set his first Guinness World Record for the most torches ate in 1 minute and this year he set another world record by eating the most torches in less than 30 seconds!

Fandazzi Fire Circus is a live music and fire performance troupe that was founded in 2004 to bring the mystery, magic and bright presence of a gypsy family to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. They are an ever-evolving Twin Cities based fire circus performing live music, dance and feats of MORE FIRE! See them perform on the Gypsy Stage in Sherwood Forest everyday of the Festival at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.

Bret Pasek has been studying and performing the art of fire manipulation for over a decade and has spent the past nine seasons performing with Fandazzi Fire at venues across the upper Midwest. He first became interested in becoming a fire performer in 2006 after watching fire eating for the first time. Self-taught, Pasek was invited to audition for the Fandazzi Fire Circus in 2008, where his passion for pushing the limits of his craft helped earn him a place with the group where he has remained ever since. The previous record for most fire torches extinguished in thirty seconds with the mouth was 39 and was achieved by Hubertus Wawra while in Mumbai, India on February 21, 2011.

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival began its 45th season on Saturday, August 22, and ends on October 4, 2015. The Festival is open weekends; Labor Day and Festival Friday, October 2, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., rain or shine. The Festival is located seven miles south of Shakopee on Highway 169.
