Pathos / A rhetorical appeal to the reader’s or listener’s senses or emotions through connotative language and imagery / Example: Advertisement about donating to a charity includes scenes of emaciated children and the words, "For just $1.00 a day, you can feed a starving child."
Ethos / A rhetorical appeal that focuses on the character or qualifications of the speaker / Example:"As a doctor, I am qualified to tell you that this course of treatment will likely generate the best results."
Example:A commercial about a specific brand of toothpaste says that 4 out of 5 dentists use it.
