Game of the Week – Killers vs. Ghosts (A League)

In a key matchup of championship contenders, the Killers and the Ghosts squared off in the A league. The game was tight throughout with the Killers escaping with a 49 to 47 victory. Dwayne Nelson led the way with 17 points for the Killers and Thomas added 9. Perhaps still coming down from the high of winning his first ever championship over the summer, Dick Beville contributed 6 for the Killers. Lady Game of the Week – Lightning vs. Grippers

The Grippers and the team formerly known as the Crushers met in what can be best termed as a defensive struggle. The Grippers had a hard time finding a basket early as both the newly married Sarah Stables and Charlotte Gripka (not to each other!) seemed to have their minds on all the thank-you notes that they still have to write instead of putting the ball in the hoop. Facing a huge hole at half, the Grippers made a valiant attempt to claw their way back, only to fall 35 to 25. Lee had 8, while Denise Stubbs, Brannon, Hunt and Kelley each had 6 for the Lightning. McIntosh had 8 and Martin had 5 for the Grippers. (Congratulations again to both Sarah and Charlotte!)
