Today you will: learn how to access the online textbook and the Dash student companion and will watch learning animations to help you with your assignment today.

How to access the online textbook:

The online textbook is Pearson Texas Algebra 1. You can only access the book through this link:

The link is really long, so you’re going to want to bookmark the page for future use.

Your username is: kisd ______(your 6 digit ID number) Example: kisd123456

Your password is: kisd ______(your 6 digit ID number) Example: kisd123456

When you sign in, it takes you to a “central admin” page. You’ll see something that looks like this:

Probably the only class you have is Algebra 1.

If you click on “Texas Algebra 1” below Algebra 1 Pre-AP, it will take you to the online book. It will look like this:

There are some options you need to choose, then when you get to the very bottom it will look like this:

Choose, “Let’s go!”This will take you over to the online textbook. It’s really more of a learning management system than just an online textbook. There are quizzes and things I can assign for you to complete there. Another way to get to this website is to click on “Pearson Realize” on the right-hand side of the central admin page. It takes you to the same place as clicking on Texas Algebra 1 in the middle of the page.

When you click, “Let’s go!” you are directed to this page:

The book is the green icon on the left. Click on it. Spend a few moments looking around the book.

Now, go back the original login page. Remember, the “Central Admin” page.

You’ll notice underneath the Pearson Realize is a button for “Dash.” Dash is the “student companion” or the workbook. It uses the same login as the textbook, but often it doesn’t ask you to login if you have logged in to the Central Admin page using that link at the top of the page. Remember, you HAVE to login using the link. Googling the site won’t work…you’ll think it does, because it takes you to a page that looks like what you use. Then, when you try to login, it will tell you that your username and password are not valid.

Dash is like an online workbook. You can see “learning animations” or videos about how to work the problems.
