WHAT IS PLAYGROUP?

Playgroup is a session for people who have young children 0 to Pre-Prep (0 to 5 years). Playgroup is a session that is attended by both the child and a parent or carer. Playgroup is also a social occasion for parents/carers and children to meet together for their mutual benefits.

It offers children an opportunity to become familiar with the kindergarten environment,by using the facilities within the kindergarten setting. These activities include painting, playdough, collage, dress-ups, blocks, books, puzzles, drawing, water play, climbing, sand play and many more.

These activities cater for both the child’s developmental needs, and interests. Although aimed at the under 3’s all of the activities are “open ended” allowing use by children aged up to five years within the family.

To assist the group to socialize, the playgroup session is limited to thirty families who attend on a term basis.

Playgroup is only attended by children up to Kindergarten age, no older siblings/children can attend during Playgroup time.

Completing a Playgroup Enrolment Agreement, Membership Form and Code of Conduct Form is a condition of attending Playgroup at Western Suburbs Kindergarten.

SUPERVISION AND CARE

OF EQUIPMENT

Supervision of your child at all times is parental/carer responsibility. As there is a wide age group of children attending playgroup activities and equipment will need close parental or carer supervision. All equipment needs to be kept in good working order. If something is broken or is unsafe, please advise the co-ordinator.

HYGIENE

To ensure a hygienic environment for all is maintained a container is provided on sign in trolley for any pieces of equipment that the children may place in their mouth. Please place any piece of equipment that has been in your child’s mouth in this container, so it can be disinfected by the co-ordinator after the session. A baby change table is provided for playgroup. It is important to avoid cross infection, therefore, please ensure that this table is disinfected after each use. Disinfectant is provided on the top shelf in the room.

TIDY AWAY TIME

Many hands make light work and all parents/carers and children are asked to assist with tidy away time. This is a great way to encourage the children to be involved in the care of the kindergarten equipment. When they attend kindergarten, this will be part of their daily routine.

FEES

An invoice for term fees will be placed in your child/children’s pocket. All fees are due and payable second week of each term.

All monies are to be paid direct into our bankaccount (details found on your term invoices). The cost is$100.00 per family per Term, paid each Term. Failure to pay or make other suitable arrangements within 2 weeks of the commencement of the term will result in the exclusion of your child from the playgroup and the withdrawal of your child from the playgroup waiting list.

Any requests for refunds of fees must be made in writing to the management committee.

A yearly $10.00 family membership fee is payable on commencement.

THE WAITING LIST

The waiting list for the playgroup is based on the date that we receive your completed application form.At least two weeks notice in writing should be given when a child is to be withdrawn from the playgroup. If you withdraw your child from playgroup and you wish to return to playgroup later in the year you will be placed back on the bottom of the waiting list. You will then be contacted once a position at playgroup becomes available.
