2014 Local Assessor Workshop (LAW)
October and November

The Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers is pleased to be offering an 8 hour workshop geared specifically toward the Local (Contract) Assessor that does not have day to day dealings in a City/County Assessor’s Office. MAAO’s Local Assessor Workshop will be offered in 4 locations which include: Thief River Falls, Breckenridge, New Ulm and Marshall. The curriculum for the courses will include: New Laws Update for the 2014 session, the role and responsibilities of a local assessor, as well as material that has an emphasis on ag outbuildings, data collection and the sales verification process. The workshop will be hands on with many opportunities for class discussion and workgroup activities. Eight Continuing Education Hours (8 CEH’s) will be awarded for the completion of the seminar. Credit will only be given for the actual time spent in class, as verified by the course roster. Participants will receive an electronic CEH certificate after the course conclusion; therefore an active email address will need to be provided.

As directed by the MAAO Executive Board, all registration for MAAO events is now conducted online at the MAAO website www.mnmaao.org with credit card only payment options. You will need to register for the date and location you wish to attend. If you have registered in the past, please use your same log-in and password. If you have any questions about the course or require assistance with online registration there are 3 forms of assistance available:
(1) You may contact your City/County Assessor to assist you in registering; or
(2) If you do not have Internet access, in most cases, you can utilize your county library for free Internet access; or

Register by October 15, 2014 and receive the early bird registration fee of $100.00. After October 15, 2014 the registration fee is $120.00. Again, payment must be made via credit card during registration and cannot be accepted at the course site.
The workshop will run from 8:00 - noon and 1:00 - 5:00. Participants will be on their own for lunch.
