We communicate with other partner organizations and with the person who wish to come either by fax, telephone or e-mail with regular update regarding the work camp.
YAZ will arrange for participants to be picked up from the airport to YAZ offices if the volunteer expresses this wish before arriving. It is therefore important for volunteers to communicate their dates and times of arrival via e-mail. Volunteers should make sure to have our office and mobile numbers before traveling in order to call us in any inconveniences that might arise.

LOCATION: RUFUNSA (BLESSED HOPE ORPHANAGE)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT RUFUNSA(BLESSED HOPE ORPHANAGE)
Rufunsa was originally part of the South Luangwa Game Reserve. Sadly there are very few animals in the area due to illegal game hunting and poaching. It is located 170km East of Lusaka. The community is very small and yet has many orphans. Well most parents have been killed by HIV, it is also possible that the children are orphaned because their parents could not get proper health care. Malaria is the major killer in the area. The community came together and founded this orphanage. It is run by members of the community and it has gotten some funds from Government. However, these funds are not enough to enable them to complete the construction of the orphanage. YAZ and Blessed Hope became partners in 2007.
WORK
The volunteers will continue the construction of the dormitory for the children that was started last year. This work will involve carrying sand on wheel barrows from a nearby stream to the camp site, moving blocks from the place they were made to the camp site. Then the volunteers will construct the dorms. Volunteers will also make visits to the local school and the high school nearby.
ACCOMMODATION
The volunteers will be accommodated in locally made huts. The camp site is located very far from town and so volunteers would have to get essential supplies whilst still in Lusaka.
