Retirement – Warrant Officer Ted Jardine DJSCS 3334
1. On 12 Feb 2015, WO Ted Jardine will retire from the Canadian Armed Forces after 38 plus years of loyal, dedicated military service to Canada, the CAF, the RCAF and the Communications and Electronics Branch.
2. Ted enrolled in the CAF on 22 Mar 1976 in Kamloops, British Columbia, proceeding to Cornwallis, Nova Scotia for Basic Training in April. Kingston was then his next stop. He completed the POET course and was assigned to the Radar Tech (231) trade. After completing trades training in Kingston, he was posted to CFS Holberg in May 77. His hard work over the next two years earned him an accelerated promotion to Cpl and another six month stint in Kingston for the TQ5 Comet course. In May 80, he was lucky enough to return to his old stomping grounds with a posting to CFS Kamloops. After two years, he volunteered for some training in Panama City, Florida. This entailed a posting to the Cdn NORAD Region HQ in North Bay on 6 Aug 82 with a promotion to MCpl. During this posting, Ted spent four of those months in the sun on the Regional Operational Control Center course in Panama City, Florida and spent a total of seven years as a member of the Brotherhood of the Underground Mushroomers (BUMs). The brightest point during this period was when he met, fell in love and married his lovely wife Irene in 1988. In Jul 89, Ted was posted to CFB Kingston and three years later in Jul 92, got promoted to Sgt with a posting to the National Defence College in Kingston. During that time, he managed to produce two sons (with a little help from his wife) Ian and Lucas. Four years later, Ted took a posting to Ottawa in Jul 96. He remained in the NCR with postings to then DGISDS, 76 Comm Gp and CFIOG HQ in Leitrim where he was promoted to the rank of WO in Aug 04. WO Jardine will finish his illustrious career with DJSCS (formerly DIMTPS) at Tunney’s Pasture.
3. Ted and his wife plan to remain in Ottawa. Their son, Ian is working on his PhD in high energy physics at the University of Toronto while Lucas is attending Ottawa’s Carleton University studying for a BSC in Computer Science. Ted plans to take some time considering his options and in the interim act as hausfrau.
4. Ted has accumulated some extra leave throughout his career and his last working day will be 01 Dec. A retirement ceremony & luncheon will be held at the Clocktower Brew Pub (418 Richmond Rd, Ottawa) on Friday, 28 Nov 2014 at 1130hrs.
