Marlboro High School

Chamber Choir Contract 2016-2017

  1. Doctor appointments, work, and all other appointments need to be planned around any and all rehearsal and performance times. We only rehearse about 10 times before each concert. In reality, that is not very many rehearsals. You must be at each one.
  2. You must be at rehearsal immediately after school until they are over at 4PM. Do not plan on leaving early or coming in late.
  3. Once you become a member of Chamber Choir, you continue as a member throughout your time in high school. This is a long-term dedication of your time and talent. If, for some reason, you are unable to fulfill your commitment, it is your responsibility to discuss it with Mrs. Budryk as soon as you know. It is unfair to the other members if you just stop showing up.
  4. Cell phones, homework and other distractions have no place in our rehearsals. They must be kept in your book bag until we end.
  5. Since no-pass/ no-perform is the law, grades must be kept at the passing level. The failure of one member puts an incredible strain on the entire group because a majority of our performances will be outside the school. A student unable to remain eligible can be removed from the group.
  6. Concert dates and rehearsal dates are given as much in advance as possible to avoid any and all conflicts. Work is not a valid excuse!!!! Each member MUST keep a calendar of all your activities!!!!! Opportunities to sing arise through out the school year. Members must be able to communicate their conflicts when asked.
  7. Choral Lessons are a requirement of being a member of Chamber Choir. Members will attend weekly lessons on a specific letter day and rotate through periods. A lesson calendar has been shared with you on Google Calendar through your school email. Lesson group assignments are also posted on Mrs. Budryk’s office door.
  8. Chamber Sopranos are B DAYS
  9. Chamber Altos are D Days
  10. Chamber Men are F Days
  11. Attitude is everything!!!!

a) A good attitude, dedication, and willingness to work hard most be evident at all times.

b) Laziness is a by-product of your lack of commitment to the group and will not be tolerated.

c) Missing or arriving late to rehearsals, missing deadlines given in rehearsals, and poor attitude will affect the success of the group and reflects your lack of commitment.

d) Returning Chamber Choir members are not entitled to any preferential treatment. (Acting like a diva because you were in the group last year.) These members are however, expected to look out for the welfare of the group (not yourself.) Since you have experience being in the group, the responsibility falls to you to ensure that the spirit of the group is positive and healthy. When the group shines, you shine.

e) ALL Chamber Choir members share the same responsibility for the quality of the group. An individual’s wants and desires may not be what is best for the group. When the group shines, you shine.

f) Every member must be equally committed to the same level of excellence. Maintaining your spot in the Chamber Choir is earned...... It is not a gift!!!
