Course: Geometry N Teacher Name: Mr. Kermani / Mrs. Loprinzo

Required Materials: Each student must bring each of the following to class every day:

·  A pencil and pen

·  A graphing calculator TI-83+ and / or a scientific calculator

·  Graph Paper (when doing graphing sections)

Classroom Procedure:

·  The class will be seated in alphabetical order. If you need your seat changed due to nearsightedness, I will do my best to fix the situation.

·  Each student must be in their assigned seat when the bell rings with their homework/notebook open and on their desk.

·  Homework, notebooks, quizzes, and exams will NOT be accepted if it is not neat and legible.

·  No locker permission will be granted during class, students must come to class on time and prepared.

·  Bathroom permission will be granted only in emergency situations.

·  Any student caught cutting will receive a ZERO for any class work, quiz, or test given that day.

·  If you are absent on a day a quiz or exam is given, you must make it up on the first day that you come back. If a student is absent for a long period of time and needs additional time to prepare, see Mr. Kermani or Mrs. Loprinzo at the end of the period on the day you return to school.

·  Quizzes and collected homework may or may not be announced. Cumulative Tests will always be announced in advance.

·  No late homework will be accepted.

Fire Drills: During fire drills, students must be aware of the following:

·  All windows and doors must be closed.

·  There shall be absolutely no talking during a fire drill.

·  Students must line up in double file and move rapidly without running to the appropriate area outside the school. Write in the space below directions on how to exit the building for this classroom

Cheating:

Cheating on any assignment or exam will not be tolerated. Cheating is considered a misdemeanor on Regents Examinations. Anyone who is caught cheating OR trying to cheat will receive a ZERO. If a student is looking at another student’s paper, talking, or looking in a notebook or textbook, that student will be given a ZERO for cheating. Please keep your eyes on your own paper and keep quiet during all tests and quizzes.

Homework:

Homework will be assigned each night and will be checked every day. Homework can also be collected and graded at any time. Your homework will be graded on the content as well as the clarity of work done. Students must make an honest attempt at all problems to receive credit for their homework. All homework should be done on a separate piece of paper in the event it is collected. If you are absent on a day that homework is checked you must show it to Mr. Kermani or Mrs. Loprinzo by the end of the day that you come back to school to receive credit. If this is not done the student will receive a zero for the homework assignment.

Notebook:

Every student must have a notebook on his or her desk in class every day. It is suggested, but not required, that the notebook contain a filing system – whether it is a folder or a 3 ring binder – to collect and organize handouts with class notes and homework.

Evaluation:

The average for each marking period will be determined by using a system that is commonly called total points. An example would be if a student had four assignments that combined had a total of 70 possible points that the student could earn. Suppose the student earned 64 points out of the possible 70 points. In order to figure out their average all the student would need to do is divide 64 by 70, and then multiply the decimal by 100. When rounded up this would give the student a 92 average. It is very important to earn all the points that you can.

The four quarters count as 80 percent of the overall final average. Each of the four quarters count for 20 percent. The midterm counts for 10 percent of the final overall average and the final counts for 10 percent of the final overall average.

We will have homework every night except on nights that we have a cumulative test the next day. We will also have one quiz a week during most weeks of school.

It is important to take good notes and get individual practice to succeed in math class. By doing your homework every day, it will give you the practice that you need so that when the test comes you will be prepared.
