Industrial Ethernet cables for each movement

Plastic technology specialist igus, Cologne presented on the SPS/IPC/DRIVES numerous innovations in the field of „chainflex“ cables for energy chain systems and the „drylin E“ construction kit for electrically driven linear units.

One of the highlights on the igus booth was amongst others industrial Ethernet cables for energy chains. Its special design provides a constantly high data quality in applications with permanent movement. With different shield materials such as, PUR, TPE, PVC, etc, bending radii (from 5 x d), cable length (up to 400 m) and torsion angles (up to +/- 180°/m) guarantee operational safety for almost every moved application.

Therefore such Ethernet cables from igus are appropriate for most different influences, dynamic parameters, cycle numbers and temperatures. On example from the file of industrial Ethernet cables is the optical-fibre cable „CFLG.2LB“ with TPE outer jacket, especially developed for large cable length up to 400 m and small bending radii of 5xd only. It combines several advantages: high transfer capacities, mechanical stability and unlimited EMV safety and durability. With the help of data from 2 billion test cycles per year performed in the igus test laboratory with more than 1,700 m2, the lifetime of almost any cable of the “chainflex” family can be precisely predetermined.

With the “drylin E” construction kit of electrically and lubrication-free spindle and tooth belt linear axes, customers can revert to new components and supplies. The new tooth belt axes ZLW-1660 is appropriated for positioning respectively adjustment applications with axial loads up to 500 N. The adequate stepper motor NEMA 34 is also new. This also includes chain compliant and oil-resistant motor connecting cables as well as lightweight plastic end and reference-switches. Here the ultimate principle is: “it all can, not must”, says igus. The customer can order the entire ready-made linear system, but he also has the possibility to use his own components such as stepper motors and cables and order igus parts complementary.

Whether it is the right selection of Ethernet cables or linear systems: The 26 gratis E-engineering tools can be used without registration. These igus tools make it easier for designers to choose and put together parts for an acceptable solution. For example: cables and plugs can easily be configured, sanity-checked and ordered ready-made per mouse-click with the plug-cable configurator QuickPin 2.0. Users can generate an ePLAN electric P8 macro without any problems from the selected configuration.
