About WorldSkills New Zealand (WSNZ)
WSNZ is NZ’s representative member affiliated to WorldSkills International. It is an independent, non-profit Charitable Trust founded in 1986, dedicated to encouraging young people to excel in vocational skills. This is achieved through exposure to competitions at regional, national, and international levels. Through competitions, WSNZ gives young professionals on a vocational career path the self-confidence and experiences they need to reach their full potential.WSNZ has the potential to be the significant driver in increasing the profile, participation, and capability in skills careers for our youth.
The purpose of the organisation is to:
- Encourage, recognise, and reward skill excellence.
- Raise the standards of skills training in New Zealand.
- Raise the self-confidence and self-esteem of the young participants.
- Promote skills training as a rewarding career choice to school leavers.
- Have New Zealand recognised as one of the highest skilled nations in the world
Role Purpose
1.To develop and implement marketing strategies, communications and public relations activities.
2.Identify and develop commercial opportunities including funding and sponsorship proposals/applications
3.To carry out administration, event management and operational duties as required in a small office environment.
4.To provide a high standard of administrative support to the CEO.
Employment Details
Location / The appointee will be based at the WSNZ office in Beachcroft Ave, Onehunga, with some flexibility for remote work from time to time.

Marketing and communications / Planning and implementing marketing and digital media strategies
Develop and implementing marketing strategies, communications and public relations activities
Development of a value proposition attractive to our key stakeholders and sponsors
Brand profile and awareness
Communications to stakeholders including website content, social media, CRM management, PR information and relevant articles
Sponsorship leveraging – client liaison, PR opportunities, signage and marketing material
Supporting the CEO in developing, copy-writing and editing communications
Build and maintain strong, long lasting stakeholder relationships
Commercial/Funding / Assist CEO with funding/sponsorship initiatives
Develop and present sponsorship proposals
Complete funding applications
Develop and build sponsor relationships
Event Management / Event management of skills competitions where required
Organisation of travel, accommodation and other logistics functions
Administration Support / Reviewing regular operational reports and providing analyses to the CEO to ensure they are informed of all matters and issues
Producing documents, briefing papers, reports, speeches and presentations as required
Act as a point of contact between the CEO and internal and external clients
General administrative duties to support the CEO
Maintain a desk process file to ensure other staff can complete required tasks if necessary
Organise meetings specific to the position, including booking venues, sending agendas, recording minutes etc
Health and safety management accountabilities are understood and applied. Individual and staff H&S outcome and objectives are reviewed at least annually. / Significant hazards in the area of responsibility are identified, documented and reviewed annually or as new hazards emerge.
Significant hazards are eliminated, isolated and/or risk minimised.
Staff in the area of responsibility are involved in the hazard management process.
Relevant H&S training is identified and completed for key staff and those with specific job/training requirements.
Work accidents and incidents are reported as soon as possible after occurrence; investigation reports are completed and recommendations considered.
Other duties / Performs other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.
Competency Specification
Education / training / Tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience in Communications/Marketing or related field
Full NZ Driver License
Experience / Proven marketing and communications experience of at least five years
Experience with digital and social media marketing
Typical knowledge, skills and attributes / Demonstrated understanding of branding and brand guardianship.
A good communicator who can work cross-functionally with good stakeholder management.
Outstanding written and oral communication
Especially good at listening and interpreting other needs.
Comfortable presenting to stakeholder groups
Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
Self-managed with strong organisational and time management skills.
Up-to-date with latest technologies and applications
Able to manage projects within resource constraints (ie budget and deadlines)
Ability to multitask and prioritise daily workload
Discretion and confidentiality
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, hands-on and be able to work autonomously in a small team.
