2004 SUMMER CAMP IN CHINA

(Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou)

Introduction

Chinese American Cooperation Council (CACC) has put together an exciting “2004 China Summer Camp in China2004” program for students between the ages of 10 – 17 that will take place in China. This program is co-hosted by CACC, Beijing Huiwen Middle School and Shanghai Normal University.

CACC ( is a non-profit organization headquartered in Pleasanton that offers various educational and cultural programs for the public and their own members,. These programs includinge: Chinese Language School, senior programs and cultural events.

Huiwen Middle School ( is one of the top five middle schools in Beijing and also a member of the United Nation’s Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The school has offered foreign student exchange programs for the lastover ten years.

Shanghai Normal University ( has hosted cultural exchange and Chinese language summer camps for elementary, middle school and college students from all over the world for over seven years.

Mr. Zhu Shanlu, Vicethe deputyMmayor of Beijing and Member of 2008 Beijing Olympic Committee, strongly supports this program after he visited California and has helped CACC in many ways in organizing the entire program.

Objective:

Through this four-week program, students are expected to learn about the Chinese culture, history, its people and the language.

Ages:10 – 17 year old students

Date:July 11th – August 11th, 2004

Cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou

Activities:

Language learning -includes conversations, reading, writing in Chinese, poetry appreciation, Chinese history, calligraphy, painting, and etc.

Cultural experience - includes activities with local Chinese students, martial arts, Chinese chess and Go games, pottery making, flower arrangement, visits to museums, children’s palace, watching acrobat acrobat, Peking Opera and other shows.

Sightseeing - includes trips to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and other well-known places in Beijing, trips to Shanghai, Suzhou, Hongzhou and the water village.

Living Facility: Foreign Student Dormitory with full services, including air conditioning, private showers, cable TV, etc.

Chaperones: Two (2) CACC adult members will chaperone the entire group throughout the trip. In addition, five (5) local teachers per location will help supervise the students.

Communication: The two (2) CACC chaperones will provide a weekly update of the students for their parents via email. The chaperones can also be reached by phone through a designated local CACC member in case of emergency.

Cost: $2200.00 This package price includes: Iinternational airfare, China airport construction taxes, in-China transportation, travel, room and board, hotels, tuition, banquets, tickets for all the activities, group photo, camp T-shirt and camp certificate. It does NOT include the transportation to and from San Francisco Airport and visa application and processing fee.

Registration: Registration can be made in person or by mail with a non-refundable depositof $100.00 payable to “CACC Summer Camp in China”. On site registration will be available on March 21, March 28 and April 4, 2004 at Mohr Elementary School between 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Last registration date is April 10, 2004. All mail-in registrations must be post marked on or before April 10, 2004 and sent to:

Deposit: A $100.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the registration. The balance of the full payment should be paid to “CACC Summer Camp in China” upon registration confirmation. It must be received by CACC on or before April 26, 2004. Please send checks to the above address.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: CACC reserves the right to cancel the trip prior to its departure. In this event, CACC will refund any deposits and/or payments without obligation.

In the event of a cancellation made by a student or his/her parent on orand before April 26, full refund deducting the non-refundable $100 registration fee, will be made to the student. For a cCancellation made on orand before June 15, 2004, there will be a refund of only $1,000.00. There is no refund for the cancellations made after June 15, 2004. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. All cancellations must be in writing and will be effective upon receipt by CACC.

Health Insurance: All participating students are required to have their own health insurance coverage, plus $100 medical deposit (fully refundable, if the student does not use it).
