National Commander Mike Moss

Mike Moss is a member of the Sons of The American Legion for thirty-one years. He belongs to Taylor Miller Squadron 21 of Golden Colorado. Mike is married to Linda, his wife of thirty-eight years. They have three children and seven grandchildren. His wife and daughters, CariAnne and Jessica, are members of the American Legion Auxiliary along with his son Jerad who belongs to the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 21.

Mike’s eligibility comes from his father Richard who was a 56 year member of The American Legion. Mike's father served in the United Sates Air Force on a B29 in the Korean War. “It is an honor to serve our veterans and our nation’s children. Because of my father’s service and legion activities, The American Legion is part of my family.”

Mike Moss was instrumental in reactivating Squadron 21 and making it into one of the most active in the Detachment of Colorado. Mike enjoyed playing the Easter bunny for ten years entertaining hundreds of children bringing smiles to each of their faces. He has held key office’s within his Squadron and Detachment including Commander. Additionally, Mike has been a VAVS volunteer at Denver VA , served on the Fisher House Board of Directors for 10 years, been involved with the squadron's CWF fund raiser, the annual Duck Race in Golden, Co., for the last 18 years, Legion Oratorical at Post, Department and National, involved with Squadron sponsor to Boys and Girls State and The American Legion Baseball Sponsorships. Mike has lived by the words to “honor and serve our veterans and our nation’s children”.

Mike Moss was National Vice Commander, National Historian and National Executive Committeeman. He was National Chairman of the Membership Committee and Children & Youth Commission.

In 2014-2015, Mike Moss is "building bridges to our future". Our bridges connect The American Legion Family with each other. By building membership in the Sons of The American Legion, our bridge will make our programs stronger.

As National Commander of the Son of The American Legion, he will promote the National Emergency Fund and The American Legion Endowment Fund.

Mike envisions a bright and productive year linking all the programs with membership and continuing to serve our veterans and our nation’s children within our communities.
