Regarding Meeting of the Cell Phone Operators
Meeting of the Cell Phone Operators held on 10.03.2008 at 4.PM in
the chamber of Chairman,Delhi Pollution Control Committee.
The list of participants is at, Annexure-I
Attention of all cell phone operators was invited by the Chairman, DPCC regarding noise and health problems faced by people due to pollution causedby cell phone towers. After detailed discussions with the cell phoneoperators, it was decided that:
01. The cell phone operators must make efforts to share cell phone tower
Infrastructure so as to bring down the total number of cell phone towers
below 2000 against the existing 5000 towers in the city.
02. The cell phone operators shall make efforts to replace the existing
D.G.Sets with the cleaner fuel technologies i.e. gas based DG Sets or
solar energy based or Invertors. Copy of the complaints against the cell
phone towers received shall be sent to cell phone operators.
03. As advised by the Department of Telecommunications, Govt. of India,
(a) Cell phone towers which have been installed in the premises of Schools
and Hospitals shall be removed, and relocated immediately because
children and patients are more susceptible to electromagnetic radiations,
(b) Cell phone towers which are located in narrow lanes shall be removed
and relocated.
(c) Cell phone towers should be at least 3 meters away from nearby
building and antenna should not directly face the building and
lower end of the tower should be at least 3 meters above the
ground
or roof.
04. Cell phone operators shall get a study conducted on the adverse
effects of electromagnetic radiations from the Cell Phone Towers.
05. A copy of the draft guidelines issued by Telecommunication
Engineering Centre, Govt. of India shall be provided to cell
Phone operators for them tocomply with the same.
06. The incomplete information provided by some of the cell Phone
operators would be completed within two weeks.
