CurricUNET META Responses:

The following comments are indicative of what was also communicated via telephone interviews.

From MiraCosta:

·Is it up and running?No.

·And if so, is it working well? Not applicable at this time.

·How long did it take from the time you ordered it until it was up and running? It has been over a year. We were supposed to go live in spring 2014 and kept getting our deadline pushed out. We ended up having to use our old software system (WebCMS) for this curriculum cycle.

·Or is it soon to be up and running? We are hoping to have the production side of noncredit set up and running before December 2014. Noncredit has only a fewcoursescoming through, so we thought it best to test with them in the live format before switching over our credit. Credit should be up and running in March, but we are not holding our breath.

·And have you been given a timeline for implementation?Yes, we’ve been given a timeline, but only after threatening to drop Meta.

·I would so appreciate any information you can give me regarding your experiences, so that I can share them with our work group next week. Our humble opinion is to wait on purchasing this version of CurricUNET. They have not worked out all the bugs in the system, and we don’t think they have the manpower to implement on such a large scale. We are basically their test guinea pig, and this has created a lot of discord and distrust of the new system among our faculty. We are hoping that it’ll pan out for us in the long run once they’ve worked out the bugs, since features they sold us on will be extremely useful in our business processes.

From Bakersfield College:

First let me say that my understanding is that other colleges have had a better response from Governet than we have. That having been said, my only experience withMETAoccurred two years ago when Governet provided a brief demonstration during a training seminar on your campus. Kern Community College District subsequently purchasedMETA(almost two years ago) but we have yet to see the product installed. I would be less than honest if I said I was a fan of Governet but their product seems to be the one most institutions are using. I also understand that the State Chancellor's Office is going to employMETAfor curriculum inventory and, you probably already know, Governet has acquired ASSIST. So, if you ask me if I can personally recommend Governet or their product the answer would be no. I do, however, have a sense that it may become a necessity if we want the greatest degree of integration statewide.

Response from Greg Keen after querying Articulation Officer’s Listserv:

It appears not a single CCC hasMETAup and running even though some have paid for the upgrade over 2 years ago.

Mira Costa College is ready to launchMETAF15

I have been reading rumblings regardingMETAon the Curriculum Committee List Serve and many are concerned about the continued delay ofMETAimplementation and current level of service (lack of) for the currentCurricuNetprogram.

Others have asked if ASSIST Next GEN will accommodate curriculum management software other thanCurricuNetandCurricuNetMETAand I have found that ASSIST has indeed committed to accommodating other software program.

And, apparently we are not the only CCC exploring alternatives toCurricuNet.

We are experiencing a distinct lack of response from CurricUNET and I am very concerned as they have lost long-term key personnel lately. Not only does it take forever to get a ticket resolved there isn't anyone there who knows the set-up of our system. We are getting ready to merge our online catalog with CNET via their Web Services and they have been less than reliable during the testing stages. Does anyone else use their Web Services?
We are in no danger of being able to look for an alternative at this point but I'm definitely going to start a file of viable options for down the road!

We are experiencing the exact same thing. We were supposed to go live with Meta last Spring (and that was a pushed back date already). We have been given numerous dates that continue to be pushed back.

We are also very unhappy.
I have been told that Curricunet has a virtual monopoly, which if so would explain why they don't have to knock themselves out much.
I would be happy to hear otherwise, however.
