BREEAM Schools Half Day Seminars

Calling Local Education Authorities, Developers, Designers, Contractors, Clients and Planners

Schools and LEAs can use BREEAM to set targets for the environmental performance of new and refurbished school buildings and to further their knowledge of the environmental aspects of sustainability.

The Government is keen to ensure that sustainability is at the top of the agenda for all those involved in the construction of schools. As part of the “Targeted Capital Funding” and “Building Schools for the Future” programmes DfES requires the following new build and refurbishment projects to achieve at least a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating:

  • primary school projects costing £500k or more
  • secondary school projects costing £2m or more
  • and where more than 10% of the total gross internal floor area of a school is effected.

Smaller-scale projects are also encouraged to use the BREEAM method.

BRE is holding a series of half day seminars throughout the UK to provide an introduction to the subject of sustainable construction and demonstrate how the BREEAM Schools environmental assessment scheme can help to meet such sustainability targets.

The seminar will include:

  • An overview of the BREEAM assessment process
  • The principles of the BREEAM Schools 2006 method
  • A workshop focusing on a simple school case study
  • Details of current & future BREEAM Schools mandates

The cost for this training is £125 per delegate (exc. VAT) and all candidates will receive a CPD certificate for 3 hours.The seminar cost includes a buffet lunch and refreshments.
