Position of Development Officer
{Specific Purpose Contract Maternity Leave}–Six Months Duration(possible extension to eight months, subject to funding)

Reporting to:
TheDevelopment Officer will form part of the core team in the Head Office reporting to the Manager under the direction of the Board of Management of DCCC.
Main Duties:
Information & Communications strategy:
- To support DCCC’s information and communications strategy with the provision of accurate and up to date information on the Early Year’s Sector via various methods.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and co-ordinate communication strategies for DCCC events, activities and research programmes as appropriate.
- Prepare external publications {ezines, brochures, newsletters, & multimedia programs} that promote the National Early Years Childhood Care and Education funding and policy programmes.
- Prepare internal publications in partnership with the Manager and the staff team {midyear, annual report and case studies} as record of DCCC’s strategic progression.
- Assist in managing the PR and events for the DCCC Ltd (e.g., launch of reports, media briefings, photo shoots, conferences, etc)
- Maintain and update the DCCC centralised database.
- Contribute to and maintain the Company’s website and social media presence {Twitter and Facebook}.
Develop good working networks and be able to respond appropriately to different target audiences, other CCCs and Early Years Agencies, the DCYA and Pobal, Parents and Childcare providers including Childminders.
National Quality programmes supports:
- Provide support, advice, and information to existing and potential early childhood care and education services on the national quality frameworks and the regulatory framework.
- To work in conjunction with the DCCC team to design, develop and deliver a suite of training courses and events for the Early Years services including the AIM Equality & Diversity training, Children First Child protection training & the Siolta/Aistear national programmes.
- To organise and facilitate information workshops throughout Dublin City for childcare providers and parents covering a diverse range of information, including funding programmes, and quality frameworks.
Other Duties
- To support and input data on relevant databases / systems connected to programme implementation.
- To support the development and implementation of Local Implementation Plans with the DCCC staff team and Board of Management, prepare, and present reports as directed.
- To perform any other duties as they may arise.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate must have:
- At least a Level 8qualification, which is relevant to the post.
- At least 3 years practical experience of working within a similar role.
- An understanding of the regulatory framework that services must operate within and the quality frameworks that services are now expected to meet.
- Strong working knowledge of the Early Years sector including funding programmes.
- Have excellent organisational skills and an ability to undertake work requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent IT abilities including experience of use of Microsoft Word, Excel & Access Data. Social Media, facebook, twitter and Microsoft outlook.
- Report compilation and organisational ability are also key requirements of the post.
Character:
- Be a self-starter capable of working on his or her own initiativeand have a collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage on an individual and group basis.
Nature of Employment:
Contracted to the Dublin City Childcare Committee CLG on a specific term contract for six months (5 day week) (All contracts are subject to funding)
Salary: €41,213
Annual leave
26 days annually. This leave is on the basis of a 5-day week and is exclusive of public holidays.
Location: Current office location Ocean House, Arran Quay, Dublin 7. Office holder will be required to operate from the Head Office Location which is subject to change.
Hours of Work: Mon-Fri, 9.00am-5.00pm with evening/weekend work on occasions forming part of a 35 hr week. (Flexibility will be required. Time off in lieu will be offered for hours worked outside of normal working hours in line with DCCC staff handbook and DCCC Policies).
Health:
Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular & efficient service.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a medical and be Garda Vetted.
