Speaker biographies

Hrishikesh (Rishi) Bal

As a member of Intelytics, Hrishikesh Bal’s experience encompasses programming in C, C++, Java, as well as Visual C++, Java server pages, servlets, Visual Basic, Fortran, JavaScript, SQL and HTML. Mr. Bal’s current projects include the development of personal security applications.

Prior to Intelytics, Mr. Bal worked for Carnegie Mellon University in the Smart Tools Lab on the development of a knowledge base using data mining techniques for information gathering. He also worked in full life cycle plant engineering for TetraPak India Ltd and Subhag Engineers in India.

Mr. Bal’s publications include “LearnIT II, A Method of Capturing and Reusing Knowledge in Parametric Design."

A member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Mr. Bal holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Poona’s Vishwakarma Institute of Technology and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Tommy Wang

As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Wang has been instrumental in the formation and ongoing expansion of Intelytics Inc. He brings his unique blend of business experience, strategic thinking, and vision to drive the execution of successful business strategies.
Mr. Wang has appeared before the Congressional Privacy Caucus (CPC) in a briefing on threats to consumer online privacy via web bugs. He has consulted with Fortune 500 executives and government agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission on the state of Internet privacy and has appeared in national and international publications including CNN.com, ZDNet, The Nando Times, CNET, and The Washington Post.
Mr. Wang received the 40 Under 40 award, given by Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP) and Pittsburgh Magazine, for outstanding business achievement just a few months after being named a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
As a supporter of local economic growth, he advises and supports the mayor's New Technology/New Economy Initiative. He also serves on the board of directors for various New Economy companies, as well as on the IT advisory board of the Pittsburgh Technology Council and the Economic Development Technology Action Committee created by the County Commissioner of Pittsburgh. Mr. Wang also works with various CEOs and senior management executives across the IT industry to formulate business strategies for the digital economy.
Mr. Wang received his master's degree in information systems management from Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with highest distinction. He also completed his bachelor's degree at Carnegie Mellon University in electrical and computer engineering. Following graduation, Mr. Wang created iventurelab Inc. to draw upon the educational and entrepreneurial resources in the Pittsburgh area and encourage expansion within the region.
