1Overview

This document covers upgrading the Relius Administration 7.2 VRU, Web, and CSR Servers to Relius Administration 7.3. To install Relius Administration 7.3 on a workstation, please refer to the Relius Administration 7.3 Installation and Configuration document. All references to the Relius Administration 7.3 Voice Response Units powered by Edify will be hereinafter called RA VRU. All references to the Relius Administration 7.3 Internet Server will be hereinafter called RA Web. All references to the Relius Administration 7.3 Customer Service Representative module will be hereinafter called RA CSR.

Only those modules for which you are licensed will be activated.

The installation of the RA VRU/Web/CSR Service Pack involves the following basic procedures:

1)Read and understand the entire document before beginning.

2)Ensure Relius Administration 7.3 is installed and fully functional at each workstation and the databases have been successfully upgraded.

3)Ensure RA VRU/Web/CSR and all related components required to properly function are installed on your servers.

4)Install the VRU/Web/CSR Service Pack, including running updated scripts against databases.

5)Test the VRU/Web/CSR systems.

Important Note

If you are using the Relius Administration Web, VRU, or CSR modules, you must already be running the latest release of Relius Administration before applying this release. This means that your workstations must already be running Relius Administration 7.3, upgraded from Relius Administration 7.2. In addition, your WEB, VRU, and CSR servers must also already have 7.2 installed. Please note that the workstation and Web/VRU/CSR releases and service packs must be run incrementally. If you have not run these updates incrementally or if you have run them out of order, Technology Support will need to assist you. This may cause additional delays and downtime when upgrading to 7.3. If you have not already installed 7.2 or if you are unsure about the version you are currently running, please contact Technology Support for assistance.

2Installation and Environment Considerations

2.1Installation Methods

This Service Pack is only available via download from SunGard Corbel’s FTP site, ftp://ftp.sungardcorbel.com. Downloading the Service Pack to a local drive is recommended and supported. Other methods of installing (“push” or “ghost” technology, Z.E.N. Works, Zip Drives, etc.) are not supported or recommended.

If a network drive is used to load the Service Pack, it must be mapped with a drive letter assigned. Running the installation from a network drive accessed by browsing with Network Neighborhood will fail.

2.2Software fixes via Internet

Fixes and support files will be generally distributed via the Internet at ftp://ftp.sungardcorbel.com. Users must have Internet capability to receive these fixes. Visit our web site ( and click “subscribe” to receive notification of new fixes by e-mail. SunGard Corbel does not send patches and updates through the mail. SunGard Corbel strongly urges that all users subscribe to this service. Updated documents can be obtained at ftp://ftp.sungardcorbel.com/administration/ra73/docs.

2.3Virus Scanners

Although SunGard Corbel does not endorse, support, or recommend any particular method, virus protection is encouraged on servers and workstations. The two most popular are Symantec’s Norton Anti-Virus and McAfee VirusScan by Network Associates. You should update your virus definition files regularly. Norton's "Script Blocking" option can cause problems on web servers. Clients using Norton with Script Blocking turned on should test the functionality of RA Web application to determine whether script blocking is affecting our Active Server Pages. Clients should consider disabling virus-scanning software, install RA Web, test the application, and then enable virus scanning.

Some virus scanners – if active during the installation – can interfere with a successful installation. Symptoms include an error message stating that a file cannot be overwritten. Temporarily disable virus scanning before starting the installer.

2.4Windows NT/2000 Server Considerations

The Windows NT/2000 Server Administrator must run the installation. SunGard Corbel requires the use of the default Administrator. For more information, please call Technology Support.

2.5Upgrading from a previous version

The only version from which you can run this Service Pack is Relius Administration 7.2 VRU/Web/CSR. If your system is at an earlier version, you must upgrade your server to RA 7.2.

2.6Database Alias Names

All references to the database assume the aliases and SIDs are identical. Examples below:

  • The Oracle SID of QTDB needs to have the alias of QTDB.
  • The Oracle SID of VRU1 needs to have the alias of VRU1.
  • The Oracle SID of VRU2 needs to have the alias of VRU2.
  • Hardware and Software Requirements

All hardware requirements are specified in Appendix A of this document.

  • Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 or higher (Web/CSR/VRU running EWF 7.2.1 or higher).
  • Windows NT 4.0 Server or Workstation with Service Pack 6a (VRU with EWF 6.2).
  • TCP/IP Network Protocol for multi-user systems. TCP/IP must have a static IP address on the database server.
  • Internet Information Services must be installed and set up (Web/CSR).
  • Minimum video resolution of 800 x 600 with 256 colors.

3Performing the Relius Administration 7.3 VRU/Web/CSR Update

Pre-installation Notes:

a)This installation is valid for Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 or higher (Web/CSR/VRU with EWF 7.2.1 or higher) and Windows NT 4.0 Server or Workstation with Service Pack 6a or higher (VRU with EWF 6.2). Any other operating system is not valid or supported.

b)Relius Administration 7.3 must be installed and fully functional (including database upgrade scripts) at each workstation before beginning this installation.

c)Be sure no screen saver will become active during the installation. If a screen saver is to be used after the installation, the default “logon” and the “blank” screen savers use the fewest resources on the server.

d)The installation process takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete. The process of upgrading the databases may take longer, depending on the amount of data in the databases.

e)Assure you have a valid backup of your server(s) and a valid database export before proceeding. SunGard Corbel cannot be held responsible for the integrity of your data or servers.

f)Unless otherwise noted, all activity is conducted from the server(s) being upgraded.

3.1Download the self-extracting installation program from the SunGard Corbel FTP Site (ftp://ftp.sungardcorbel.com/) and copy it to an easily accessed location. In these instructions, D:\Temp will be used.

3.2Remove any icons or shortcuts from the StartUp folder. Additionally, programs that are set to launch when Windows is started can also be specified in C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI. Please edit this file using Notepad. Temporarily remark the entries RUN= and LOAD= by placing a semi-colon (“;”) in front of the line (if programs are specified), then Save and Exit the WIN.INI file. Example of remark:
;RUN=EXAMPLE.EXE

3.3Re-start the computer. Windows or other programs may have locked some files that need to be overwritten during the upgrade process.

3.4VRU Servers: Open Control Panel. Double click “Services.” If Electronic Workforce is not started, start the service before running the installation. Edify must be “up” for a successful installation.

3.5Temporarily disable all virus protection.

3.6Click Start, then Run and type D:\Temp\RA73WebVruCsr.exe in the command box, then click OK.

3.7Because this installation is a self-extracting executable, several files will extract and copy to temporary locations for the installation process.

3.8The Relius Administration 7.3 VRU/Web/CSR Installation “Welcome” screen appears. Please note that all open programs need to be closed at this time. Click Next to continue.

3.9If you have already installed this Service Pack, you will be prompted to continue. There is usually no harm in continuing, but it is not necessary.

3.10The installation will first check the level of your database. If the VRU/Web/CSR scripts have already been run against your databases, you will be prompted to run them again. It is not necessary, but there is no harm.

3.11You will then be prompted to run the database upgrade scripts against your database. All users need to be logged out, and your database should have already been backed up. Click Yes.

3.12Several minutes will pass while the scripts are running. Do not interrupt the process.

3.13The process will repeat for each of the VRU databases. You should allow the scripts to run at least one time on each database. The systems will not function properly without the scripts being successfully run on each database. Be patient and let the process complete without interruption. If you answer Yes, you will need to repeat Steps 3.9 through 3.11 on both VRU databases.

3.14When the scripts are complete, the installation program will backup any necessary files, uninstall “packages,” copy files, install “packages,” and restart some services. Some screens will be different than what is displayed in these instructions, depending on the servers being upgraded.

Appearance on Web/CSR / Appearance on VRU

3.15If you encounter the message below (or one similar to it about a read-only file), click “Don’t display this message again.” Then click “Yes.”

4Installing Microsoft .NET Framework

According to Microsoft's web site, "The Microsoft .NET Framework is the comprehensive tool set for rapidly building and integrating XML Web services, Microsoft Windows®–based applications, and Web solutions." It will be installed with Web, CSR, and VRU installations, beginning with Relius Administration 7.3. The installation will be automatic. It will take several minutes to complete. Do not interrupt the process.

4.1After all other products have completed installation the Microsoft .NET Framework will automatically install.

4.2Once the initial program files of .NET have installed, Service Pack 2 of .NET will install.

4.3The final screen will look like the one below. Click Finish. There is no need to reboot unless prompted. However, if you stopped some services (IIS, Electronic Workforce, or Dialogic), you will need to either restart the services or reboot the server.

4.4If action was taken in Step 3.1, restore the icons or shortcuts that were temporarily removed from the StartUp group or folder and remove the remark from the RUN= and LOAD= statements from WIN.INI.

5Setting Up VRU/Web Options

5.1Setting the VRU/Web Options has been done for you. To verify your settings, Click Start | Programs | Relius | Admin | VRU/Web Options. This program sets the options for your server. On Edify VRUs, click the Browse button and find C:\Qtech\Options.xml. If running RA Web only or both RA Web and RA CSR on the same server, click the Browse button and find C:\Inetpub\Wwwroot\ReliusWeb\Options.xml. Click the Load button. (If running only RA CSR, browse for C:\Inetpub\Wwwroot\RACsrWeb\Options.xml.)

5.2Click the “Web Options” tab and enter the TCP/IP address or domain name of your web server. If using SSL, you must include the correct prefix (e.g., ). Note: The “Web site title” and other options may need to be modified to reflect version 7.3.

5.3OPTIONAL: On servers running RA CSR only, you can uncheck “Use VRU Databases” in the “General/Databases” screen

5.4Click Save. You may receive the message below. Click OK. Close the Web Options program by clicking Exit.

5.5You may need to re-record the following voice clips (or verify that they exist in your customized voice):

580To create a potential personal loan

581To create a potential primary residential loan

903Your confirmation number for this request is

904To repeat the confirmation number press 1, to continue press 2

905This distribution will sell funds directly from your plan assets according to the distribution methods defined by your plan. You will not receive any paperwork until the loan distribution check is mailed to you. If you choose to request the loan, you are consenting to repay the loan in the specified time frame.

6Running VRU Move and Testing the Servers

6.1Re-install Service Pack 2 or higher for Windows 2000 Server onto your Web Server or Service Pack 6a for Windows NT 4.0 on your VRU. You may also need to re-install any patches to your operating systems. You can download these service packs and updates from Microsoft’s web site ( Please note: Reinstalling HotFix Q296441 or HotFix Q298012 may cause your system to fail. Some future HotFix patches may produce similar results. Use these patches with caution.

6.2From a Relius Administration 7.3 workstation, open Relius Administration and enable your plans, participants, and plan sponsors (if applicable) to access your web server. Setting up plans must be completed before running VRU Move. For more help within Relius Administration, click Help | About or press the <F1> key from anywhere within the program.

6.3From a Relius Administration 7.3 workstation, execute VRU Move (normally C:\Program Files\Relius\Admin\UVRUMOVE.EXE) twice.

6.4If not already installed, all workstations that will access the CSR module need to have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher installed.

6.5Log on to the Web/CSR Server using the TCP/IP address of the server as your URL (i.e., or call your VRU. Enter a test UserID and Password. For troubleshooting, please call Support at 1-800-326-7235, Option 3.
