JOB DESCRIPTION

CHEMICAL PURCHASING SPECIALIST – SPECIALTY CHEMICALS

1. Skills Required:

·  Must have a working knowledge of chemicals and of raw material suppliers to the chemical industry.

·  Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.

·  Excellent communication skills.

·  Must interact well with R&D, Sales & Marketing, Production and Finance.

2. Education and Experience Requirements:

·  B.S. in Chemistry

·  Minimum 10 years purchasing experience in a specialty chemicals manufacturing environment.

3. Duties, Responsibilities and Authority:

·  Participate in developing and implementing strategies for dealing with existing and new suppliers in order to source specific raw materials, negotiate lower prices, qualify alternative raw materials and minimize price increases.

·  Interface with vendors, negotiate contracts, raw material approvals and specifications, pricing, order placement and control, scheduling of deliveries and raw material acceptance and management of RM inventories. Coordinate import orders, monitor ocean and air shipments (orders & samples), and handle import clearance with forwarder.

·  Areas of focus:

- Cost reduction projects.

-  Imported chemicals and products.

-  Resale items (Domestic & Imported)

-  Sourcing of new raw materials for use with new product development projects.

-  Special samples and new chemistry to support new product development projects.

-  Toll – production of King products at outside tollers.

-  REACH related sourcing issues.

-  King compliance with new ISO 22301: Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS).

-  New sources of RM’s (lower cost items + imported)

-  Special projects.

·  Leadership role for achieving certification under the ISO 22301 Standard and for complying with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) requirements of the ISO 22301 standard.

·  Work closely with vendors and suppliers to improve service level and insure compliance with King’s raw material and delivery requirements as outlined in the company’s ISO 9001 quality program.

·  Maintain a good working knowledge of chemical industry and King’s key raw material suppliers, competitors, pricing and industry trends.

·  Participates in Company wide effort to promote quality assurance.

4. ISO RESPONSIBILITY and Authority:

Responsibility under ISO 9001 QMS, ISO 14001 EMS and OHSAS 18001 SHMS (the Systems) to:

·  Follow and promote employee requirements as specified in the

systems.

·  Identify and record System problems.

·  Serve as System Auditor.

Authority to:

·  Identify and record System problems.

·  Initiate or recommend action to prevent System non-conformity through designated channels.

·  Initiate or recommend solutions through designated channels.
