Create a Game - Math Project- Core7
Due Dates:
Tear-off to Ms. Ortiz Tuesday, April 12, 2016
Part 1 due Friday, April 18th, 2016
Part 2 due Friday, May 13th, 2016
Directions: Create a math game that reviews a concept that we have studied this year in math.Come up with your own, creative way of reviewing a concept from math this year.
- Your game can be a one player game, a partner game, a small group game, or with the entire class.
- The game should be grade level appropriate. If you are not sure if it is grade level appropriate, ask Ms. Ortiz, check your notebook, or look at old HW and quizzes for examples. You will lose points if your problems are too easy, but make sure they are not impossible!
- Your game must include at least 20 math problems and answers. At least 5 of the 20 problems must be word problems!
- Most of this project will be completed outside of class, but Ms. Ortiz will give you certain days when you can work on it during class. Those dates will be announced in class.
Examples:
Board game
Bingo game
Partner Game
Jeopardy Game
Deal or No Deal Game
Wheel of Fortune Game
Who wants to be a Millionaire Game
Computer Game (It may not be something you buy or find on the internet, you must create it yourself! You will also have to be able to put it on a CD or flash drive to bring to class.)
Math Concepts: You may choose any concept from your notebook, textbook, or homework. You can choose for your game to focus on just one unit or it can cover multiple units.
Part I: On Friday, April 18th at the beginning of the class period, you will turn in a typed paragraph to Ms. Ortiz clearly explaining what concept/ unit your game will cover and what type of game you will be creating. The paragraph needs to be at least half a page in length. Please explain the concept, type of game, how many players the game is for, and any details about the game you are creating. You may not change your idea after turning in Part I, so make sure you are happy with your choice. If you are sick, you need to email or have a parent bring Part 1 to Ms. Ortiz on April 18th. If it is not typed, it will not be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS-NONE WILL BE ACCEPTED LATE. This is worth 20 points of the entire project.
Part II: On Friday, May 13th, you will turn in your game, typeddirections, answer key with all problems worked out and work shown, and all pieces necessary to play the game. The game is due May 13th at the beginning of your class period. NO EXCEPTIONS- NONE WILL BE ACCEPTED LATE. You are welcome to turn in games earlier if you choose to do so. If you are sick that day or plan to be absent, the project needs to be brought to school by a parent on or before May 13th.
Grading:This project will count as (1) TEST grade. Unfortunately, since you have plenty of time to complete the project, there will be no chance of earning more points back once you have turned it in. Once all the projects are turned in, we will play the games in class. If you are not participating, you will lose points from the grade you earned on the project.
