XI. LIST STRENGTHS OF SIG:

We have a dedicated and committed leadership team. The CTN SIG also has an educational coordinator who provides the group with the latest updates r/t regulations surrounding clinical trials. We have members who serve in other research and cancer organizations as well, e.g. IACRN, ISNCC. This provides our group a broad view of the landscape of cancer research, keeps us up to date, and allows collaborations on projects of interest to the various groups.

It is also noted that when we ask for volunteers for projects, there is never a shortage. This tells us that there are many members who have interest in getting involved and sharing their talents.

XII. LIST OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT WITHIN SIG:

(State how you are addressing these.)

Utilization of Facebook, we have made a concerted effort this year to post at least monthly to the facebook page, we do have currently 11 followers, which is up from 3 last year. This is discussed in newsletters and congress.

XIII. SIG VIRTUAL COMMUNITY – LIST HOW YOU HAVE USED YOUR SITE

The SIG Virtual community provides members with information and resources in clinical trials. We are moving towards the addition of an orientation tool kit link from our virtual community that will provide resources for new CTN nurses.

New information and changes in regulations are sent to members via announcements, and posted on the web page. Leadership contact information and past newsletters are also available.

XIV. COLLABORATIONS (ONS, SIGS, ETC.):

We have collaborated with the NCI/ASCO last year, by providing an opportunity for our members to pilot a workload tool.

We have approached the ANR SIG for assistance with developing a study on value nurses bring to the coordinator role. This working group will be formed in February 2014.

We are also exploring collaboration with the IACRN.
