2009 Southwest District Convention

The purpose of the D. O. Wiley Award is to honor the most outstanding chapter in the Southwest District. This award is given to the chapter that best exemplifies the ideals of our national fraternity as expressed in the preamble to our constitution.

Please note the significant changes to this award as recommended by the 2008 Southwest District Convention. All other applications for this award from previous years will not be accepted.

Eligibility

All Southwest District chapters meeting the following requirements may apply for the D,O. Wiley Award.

  • Submit the previous year’s Chapter Summary Report by June 1
  • Submit the Chapter Personnel Report by September 30
  • Submit the Fall Activity Report by December 1
  • Clear all financial obligations with National Headquarters by January 1
  • Submit a Southwest District Delegate/Proxy Form

Entry Material

This application must be submitted to your District President not later than April 1.

Chapters bidding for the D.O. Wiley Award must submit the following information in a binder of no more than one inch at the Opening Separate Session of the 2009 Southwest District Convention.

  • Cover sheet
  • Table of contents
  • Completed D.O. Award Wiley Fact Sheet
  • Completed D.O. Wiley Award Questionnaire
  • Recommendation letters from your sponsor and director of bands
  • Other pertinent information such as pictures, projects, summaries, articles, completed applications, etc

Do not feel the need to create mounds of material; a smaller amount of quality material will reflect better on you chapter

Presentation

Each chapter seeking the award will give a presentation of no more than five minutes and will entertain questions from the Judging Committee for five minutes. A maximum of three brothers will be permitted to give this presentation.

PowerPoint presentation will not be allowed. Please be as creative as possible with your presentation.
