Each of the presenters has noticed in their working life and in a variety of contexts that some O&M specialists are not utilizing all aspects of traffic sound in their teaching. This purpose of this roundtable is to explore this observation, and discuss methods of using traffic sound to improve the independent mobility of people who are blind.

Presenter: Jennifer Edgar (PaTTAN)
Learn how low vision travelers can use street pavement markings: lines, colors, and symbols to aid intersection analysis, and the identification of a systematic scanning pattern for one’s street crossing. This presentation will cover a refresher on the meaning of pavement markings, how to translate the information to aid the travelers with low vision, and ways that tactile kits and internet mapping sites can be utilized as well.
