  • College 101

Presented by Dr. Ami Parker, Highland School of Technology

9:30-10:15 am, 10:30-11:15am and 11:30am -12:15 pm

College 101 will cover the important tasks that help students and parents prepare for the college planning process. Topics to be covered are researching colleges, the application process, testing requirements, and financing college. Participants are encouraged to ask questions.

  • Using College Foundation NC for College and Career Planning

  • Financial Aid Session

This session will focus on the process of applying for state, federal, and institutional financial aid for college, how financial helps in paying for college, and what to expect from colleges through the financial aid process.

  • Get the Most Out of YOUR Summer at Gaston College!

Presented by MistiElting,Student Recruiter and Enrollment Specialist, and Jennifer Nichols, Director of Admissions and Counseling

Learn how to make the most of your time this summer!! High school juniors, seniors and parents will learn how to take advantage of expanded summer course offerings available this summer at Gaston College. Flexible course options include 5, 7, and 10 week sessions. We will discuss how to make sure the classes taken will transfer as well as the cost/time saving benefits.

  • NCAA Athletic Eligibility and Clearinghouse

Presented by Mathieu Chapman, Highland School of Technology

9:30-10:15 am and 11:30am -12:15 pm

During this session, students and parents will learn about the NCAA sports eligibility requirements for Division I, II, and III schools. Topics include the application process for the NCAA Eligibility Center and the necessary grade point average and test score (SAT/ACT) for eligibility.

  • Preparing the College Bound Student

Presented by Robin Leach, LEAP Coordinator for Gaston County Schools.

11:30 am-12:15 pm

Mrs. Leach is a former Undergraduate Admissions Counselor and International Recruiter for Gardner-Webb University. She will share her expertise about the college application process. She will highlight information and answer questions about the initial steps needed to pursue admission into different college settings.
