Agenda:
9:00- 10:00am- Morning networking with DONA members, coffee, tea, bagels and fruit.
10:00 to 10:15- Welcome
1- 10:15 to 12:15- Advanced Comfort Measures for Doulas-Trish Beckman, Certified Nurse Midwife
Objectives- participants will be able to:
1-Describe the 4 P’s and how variations affect birth outcomes
2-Demonstrate positions that effect labor progress when anatomy and/or fetal position are known OR not known
3-Describe how hydrotherapy can be used as a labor tool
4-Describe how heat and cold can be used as a labor tool
5-Demonstrate advanced methods for relief of labor pain and back labor pain
6-Describe laboring down and pushing techniques for an easier 2nd stage
12:15 to 12:45- Lunch –Boxed Lunch Provided
12:45 to 1:15 - Acupuncture Demonstration
2- 1:15 to 2:15- Advanced Business Marketing for Doulas – Facilitator- Cheryl Orengo, Doula & Doula Trainer
Objectives- participants will be able to:
1-List multiple methods of social marketing and business marketing for their doula business
2-Describe a “meet the doulas” or educational event for marketing
3-Identify advanced business marketing techniques for doulas
3- 2:15 to 4:15pm- Overcoming Breastfeeding Challenges- Georganna Cogburn, Lactation Consultant
Objectives- participants will be able to:
1-Describe recent updates in breast anatomy
2-Describe prenatal education necessary for successful breastfeeding beyond the first few weeks
3-Demonstrate how to facilitate successful breastfeeding with known complications
4-Define early problems and how to manage them
5-Identify newborn growth spurts and how it effects breastfeeding and mothering
Fee-$25 to be used for morning snacks, boxed lunch & rental of space. Registration ends Aug. 16.
