JOB TITLE:Caretaker- LOROS Professional Development Centre

RESPONSIBLE TO:Domestic Supervisor

HOURS OF WORK:20 per week

LOCATION:LOROS Hospice, Groby Road, Leicester

JOB PURPOSE

Working within the Operations Team providing an effective and efficientcaretakerservice to the LOROS Professional Development Centre (LPDC)

CARETAKER LPDC
20 hours per week
4pm – 8pm, Monday to Friday
Daily Duties
  • Set up meeting rooms - room layouts, opening/closing the movable wall in seminar 1
  • Ensure all meeting rooms are clear of any hospitality – taking this to the kitchen
  • Clean meeting rooms and their furniture (damp dust, vacuum) to ensure free from dust, spillages etc
  • Spot clean carpets if stained from spillages
  • Spot mop the main passageway and dining room floor to ensure clear of any spillages
  • Clean all toilets including, panelling, sinks, floors surfaces and mirrors.
  • Replace toilet rolls, hand soap including soap dispensers in Ladies and disposable hand towels as necessary
  • Check baby change
  • Vacuum barrier matting
  • Check glazed panels within building to ensure smear free
  • Clean reception counter and laminate panel below – smear free
  • Empty waste bins / waste stations and dispose of waste via correct waste stream.
  • Daily wipe down and clean of office kitchenette
  • Report any maintenance issues to supervisor for FOs to attend
Weekly Duties
  • On a rotational basis throughout the week mop all vinyl floors, buffing where necessary
  • Clean the education offices and their furniture (damp dust, vacuum) to ensure free from dust, spillages etc
  • Clean the kitchenette
  • External Litter Pick, Sweep Pathways as necessary around LPDC
  • Maintain main corridor, dining room, clinical rooms flooring in line with manufacturers recommendations
  • Little used rooms i.e. clean/dirty utility etc..check room to ensure clean and dust free.
Monthly Duties
  • Carry out high dusting as necessary
  • Check all furniture is the store rooms are clean and free from spillages and dust
Rotational Basis
  • Cleaning of Interior Lights
  • Carryout out wall washing when required
  • Cleaning of Little Used Areas eg.
  • IT Server Rooms
  • Store rooms
Ad Hoc Duties
  • Carpet Cleaning
  • Replace toner etc. for the copier
  • Furniture /equipment moves
  • Member of the Fire Team

DUTIES

Working in partnership with the Centre Co-ordinator to ensure all caretaking tasks are carried out as requested, but reporting directly to the Domestic Supervisor or Deputy (in absence), undertaking the following tasks:

Meeting Rooms

  • Ensure all rooms are in a clean and tidy order free from dust, spillages and mess.
  • Set up meeting rooms to the requested layout in good time prior to the meeting starting
  • Throughout the evening ensure you remain on top of the various meeting room layout/equipment requests
  • Ensure any hospitality left in rooms once vacated is returned to the kitchen
  • Excess furniture not required for a meeting is taken out of the room and put into storage and not left stacked in a corner.

Deliveries

  • Accept deliveries of packages/parcels, good receipt them and pass them on to LPDC staff members
  • Leave the post room kept clear and tidy

Waste Management

  • On a daily basis empty the waste stations within the offices and dining room, kitchen and toilets. Check and empty the bins in the training bedroom suites as required.
  • Collect, when required, rubbish, recycling and clinical waste from different areas of LPDC and dispose into appropriate skips/collection bins on site

Stationery

  • Keep tidy stationery store and advise the Operations Team of any restocking requirements
  • Deliver stationery as requested by LPDC staff
  • Ensure all photocopier consumables are replaced in a timely manner

Cleaning

  • Ensure that all areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness
  • On a rotational basis carry out hard floor cleaning and buffing.
  • Manage the cleaning of little used areas ensure all areas are cleaned at least annually
  • On a rotational basis ensure all internal lights within the LPDC are cleaned annually, with high usage areas i.e. main reception being cleaned bi-annually
  • On a daily basis provide support to the Centre Co-ordinator and Domestic Supervisor with various duties

Exterior

  • On a weekly basis litter pick the exterior of the building, where applicable sweep footpaths, and all exterior signage is clean and clearly visible
  • On an annual basis work with the Facilities Officers to ensure that the guttering around the LPDC is clear of leaves and silt.

Checks/Inspections

  • Monthly - record photocopier readings, electricity and water meter readings on the appropriate forms.

Ad Hoc Duties

  • Carpet Cleaning as directed by the Domestic Supervisor or Deputy
  • Be a member of the site fire team and fulfilling duties as per the Fire Policy.
  • Assists with the moving of items which require lifting or being taken to another part of the building i.efurniture
  • Ensures appropriate protective clothing provided is worn when undertaking tasks requiring such protection.
  • Report immediately any incidents or accidents affecting Security or Health & Safety
  • Undertakes all tasks in accordance with LOROS’ policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings with the Operations Team and other Hospice staff as required.
  • Undertake such other related duties as may reasonably be required.

Additional

  • As a member of the LPDC team, be courteous and helpful to all visitors and other members of staff
  • Abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act and attend training courses, as required

General
