Grants Available: $500 for part-time student, $1000 for a full-time student
Application Deadline: Postmarked by May 15st, 2014
Winner Notified by June 6th, 2014
Rules and Regulations:
· Applications are open to females residing in Canton and surrounding areas.
· Applicant will be attending an accredited undergraduate Michigan college, university or trade school in the fall of 2014.
· Must have a GED or high school diploma or some college.
· Must submit a copy of the application and all required materials (see selection criteria checklist) in a postmarked envelope by May 15th, 2014 to:
o Woman’s Life Chapter 827 -Treasurer
o 8784 Ironwood Dr. Belleville, MI 48111.
· Preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate:
o Financial need
o Undergraduate educational/training needs to improve or expand career advancement opportunities.
o Community involvement such as community service activities in schools, churches, non-profit organizations, service clubs, membership groups, etc.
· A check in the amount of $500 or $1000 shall be issued in the name of the school they will attend for the benefit of the recipient following receipt of proof of enrollment. The money is to be used for tuition and books only.
Selection Criteria: One copy of the following must be returned in the order listed and postmarked by May 15th, 2014.
· Attach a cover letter describing you, your career goals and how you plan to achieve these goals.
· Application.
· An essay (maximum of 250 words) explaining how community involvement has changed or enriched your life. Include any special circumstances you feel should be considered in reviewing your application.
· A list of all community service activities, including a reference from each organization and a contact phone number (see attached form).
· Two (2) letters of recommendation.
· Proof of Enrollment for the school in which you plan to attend.
